[For 4-Year-Olds] Fun to Make! A Collection of Halloween Craft Ideas
It’s the Halloween season that 4-year-olds love! Here, we’ll introduce Halloween craft ideas you can enjoy together with 4-year-olds.
We’ve gathered only projects you can move and play with, like spiders and ghosts.
They’re made with familiar materials and include lots of engaging tricks—blowing air to make them move or using the power of rubber bands—to really grab children’s interest.
Through making these, kids can grow their creativity and expressive skills, while the excitement and thrills spread as they work with friends.
It’s sure to be a special time where everyone can share the fun of Halloween.
Because the children’s creations are treated as works (artworks), we use the term “seisaku” (制作) in the text.

[For 4-year-olds] Fun to Make! A Collection of Halloween Craft Ideas (1–10)
Origami bat

Fold the origami paper twice to make a small triangle, then make a slit under the top corner, parallel to the base.
Make the slit from the side opposite the fold, being careful not to cut it off.
The upper triangular section you slit will become the bat’s head, and the lower part will be the wings.
Open the paper back into the large triangle, and fold the slit section toward the central crease to form the head shape.
Fold the same parts back to create the bat’s distinctive ears.
Use a zigzag (mountain–valley) fold for the junction between the head and body.
Finally, fold the remaining wings several times to add creases and give it a three-dimensional finish, and you’re done.
Halloween cracker

Let’s make a Halloween cracker with a paper cup! You’ll need a paper cup, a balloon, vinyl tape, and decorative pom-poms.
Cut out the bottom of the paper cup with your hand or scissors, then stretch a balloon—cut in half at the bulging part—over the opening.
Secure the balloon with vinyl tape so it doesn’t come off, and tie a knot at the balloon’s mouth.
Put the decorative pom-poms into the cup, pull back on the balloon, and release—just like a cracker, the pom-poms will pop out.
Add a Halloween touch by drawing a ghost face or other designs on the paper cup!

Ghost Yo-Yo

Let’s make one with newspaper and rubber bands! Here’s an idea for a ghost yo-yo.
You’ll need newspaper, origami paper, rubber bands, a pen, craft glue, and tape.
To make it, crumple the newspaper into a ball and secure it with rubber bands.
Wrap the whole thing with origami paper and draw a face to finish.
If you use orange origami paper, it will look like a jack-o’-lantern.
How many times can you bounce your ghost yo-yo? Try this fun craft idea and enjoy making it!
Tokotoko Halloween Monster
https://www.tiktok.com/@chooobo2/video/7407021833121287440I’d like to introduce a toy you can make and play with using a paper cup! Here’s what you need: a paper cup, thin strips of colored construction paper, two plastic bottle caps, two rubber bands, scissors, and decorations like a face.
How to make it: Cut four slits in the paper cup.
Next, accordion-fold the colored paper strips and attach them to the cup.
Have fun adding a face and other decorations at this step.

Here’s a perfect stained sticker craft for the coming season that a 4-year-old can easily make! This is a “puffy sticker you can make with wood glue.” You’ll need a clear file (plastic folder), water-based markers, wood glue, and an oil-based marker.
Here’s how to make it: First, color the clear file with your favorite colors using the water-based markers.
Next, draw any shapes you like with the wood glue.
For Halloween, try ghosts or pumpkins—favorite characters are fun too.
Let the wood glue dry for one day.
Once it’s completely dry, peel the glue off the clear file.
Use the oil-based marker to draw faces and add final details, and you’re done! It’s so easy—be sure to try it with your kids.
Fluffy Ghost

Air-filled and floaty! Here’s a fun idea for a fluffy ghost.
You’ll need a black plastic bag, scissors, construction paper, origami paper, a pen, tape, raffia ribbon, and aluminum foil.
First, use the plastic bag and construction paper to make the ghost’s face, then attach arms and legs using the raffia ribbon and aluminum foil.
Adding air will give it a light, floating movement.
Decorate the ghost’s face with construction and origami paper and draw expressions to create a unique piece.
It would be fun to take your finished fluffy ghost out for a little walk!
