You know, Aki is…Sakushi: Morichiyoko/Shokyokusha: SHIKAMON

This is the monthly song from NHK’s program “Okaasan to Issho” for September 2004.
It was sung by Yuuzou Imai and Shouko Haida, who were the “older brother” and “older sister” singers at the time.
The lyrics, from a child’s perspective, describe autumn colors, seasonal foods, and scenes that evoke the feeling of fall.
The way the song captures the fun of autumn through a child’s eyes and portrays warm family moments, combined with its calming melody, makes it truly heartwarming.
It’s a highly recommended track to enjoy with your family.
An Apple’s SoliloquySakushi: Takeuchi Toshiko / Sakkyoku: Kawamura Mitsuyo

One of autumn’s seasonal flavors, the apple takes center stage in “Apple’s Soliloquy.” The song depicts apples being harvested, shipped, and lined up at the fruit shop.
It is said that lyricist Toshiko Takeuchi wrote the lyrics while in the hospital, inspired by apples brought to her as a get-well gift.
It’s a piece that sparks the imagination, making you wonder if the apples you see in supermarkets and fruit shops arrived in just this way.
At the end of the song, the apple remembers the person who harvested it.
When you eat, do so with a feeling of gratitude toward those who grew your food—say “thank you” in your heart!
A small nutsakushi: Unno Yōji/sakkyoku: Joruju Bize

“Little Nuts” was a poem written in 1969 by lyricist Yoji Unno to commemorate the birth of his eldest son.
Although it was not published at the time it was created, the piece became popular and well-known after Kohya Ishikawa arranged the serenade from Bizet’s opera “La jolie fille de Perth” and set it to the lyrics of “Little Nuts,” presenting it on the TV program “Minna no Uta” in 1971.
While it depicts an autumn scene, as suggested by its background, the lyrics are ones that give a strong push to a young boy’s back—encouraging him forward.
wild chrysanthemumsakushi: Ishimori Nobuo / sakkyoku: Shimousa Kan’ichi

This song, featuring wild chrysanthemums that bloom from autumn to early winter, takes them as its main motif.
In the first verse, the faint fragrance rising from the small, pale purple blossoms evokes the feeling of autumn.
The second verse depicts insects alighting on those flowers, and in the third, it conveys a warm wish for the wild chrysanthemums to keep blooming without giving in, even as the season turns from autumn to the colder winter.
There are many varieties of wild chrysanthemums beyond the pale purple kind, so after listening to this song, try looking around to see what kinds of wild chrysanthemums are blooming near you.
In conclusion
Have you found a nursery rhyme that’s perfect for autumn? Nursery rhymes are passed down across generations, gently coloring each season as it comes.
