RATSBOØWY

A song from the era when they were still writing their name as “Bōi” in kanji for “Bowie.” It kicks off with a sprightly rhythm and riff, but the lyrics sung there are thorny—like spitting in disgust after suffering and agonizing over heartless human relationships.

The gimmick where they deliberately drop into silence midway is brilliant, too.

CHU-RU-LUBOØWY

The song was originally composed during the time when Himuro, Matsui, and Atsushi Morohoshi—who later left the group—were in a band called Despenalty during their high school days.

Although the composition is credited to Himuro, during their first live performance at Shibuya Kokaido, Himuro said in the MC that it was “a song I made with Morohoshi.”

ENDLESSBOØWY

The song that closes the first album “MORAL,” credited with lyrics by “MOONLIGHT,” refers to Keisuke Gekkou, who was on the staff at the time.

It’s a track that clearly stands apart from the others, like a mysterious piece of loop music.

LIKE A CHILDBOØWY

In this song, Hotei’s guitar riffs—precisely executed through his light fret movements and fingering—and Matsui’s keyboard-driven, techno-like steady rhythm feel fresh.

It skillfully fuses the most exciting elements of rock and disco without cooling the intensity of either.

LONDON GAMEBOØWY

A track included on BOØWY’s second album, INSTANT LOVE.

The guitar solo has a dreamy vibe that completely intoxicates you with its playing.

You can’t help but get fired up by the razor-sharp guitar.

It’s a song that makes you marvel at the brilliance of the cutting.

I’ve heard it was often performed as the last song at concerts.

Among fans, it’s known as a call-and-response song, popular for creating a sense of unity and getting the crowd hyped.

The lyrics, which poke a little fun at the London punk boom of the 1970s in the UK, are very unique.
