Christmas crafts for 2-year-olds! A collection of fun ideas using stamps and handprints

The season for Christmas crafts to enjoy with two-year-olds has arrived! Using their little hands, they can paste with glue, stamp with paint, and stick on stickers…

While valuing the children’s “I want to try!” spirit, we’ve gathered ideas here that will let them have fun creating.

From snowflakes and wreaths to Santa Claus and Christmas trees, you’re sure to see works where each child’s individuality shines.

Try making cute pieces together with the children to brighten up your classroom! Because what the children make is treated as artwork, we use the term “seisaku” (production/creation) in the text.

How to make handprint reindeer and Santa

Here are some craft ideas for making Santa Claus and a reindeer using handprints.

For Santa, use a handprint to create his beard, and for the reindeer, use a handprint to form the face.

Since Santa’s beard uses an upside-down handprint, make sure to pay attention to the direction when stamping.

The faces are made with round stickers, so the children can also enjoy sticking the stickers.

Once Santa and the reindeer are finished, glue them onto a base with a construction paper Christmas tree attached.

Be sure to decorate the tree with round stickers as ornaments, too!

Cute tissue paper wreath

The step of rolling and sticking is so much fun! Let me share an idea for making a tissue paper wreath.

Before you begin, prepare a paper plate with the center cut out, white and green tissue paper cut into manageable pieces, and decorative parts like Santa and star shapes.

Have the children crumple the tissue paper into little balls and stick them onto the rim-only paper plate where you’ve applied glue.

Once they’ve gone all the way around with the tissue paper, let them place the decorative parts—made into stickers with double-sided tape—wherever they like.

Punch a hole at the top of the paper plate, thread a string through, and your Christmas wreath is complete.

Stylish Christmas tree

Here’s a stylish Christmas tree idea that lets you enjoy an art-like finish.

Why not make a festive item that also works as a wall decoration? Prepare origami paper in lots of colors and patterns, then cut it into long, thin strips.

The length doesn’t have to be fixed, so it’s fun to let kids tear the paper themselves.

Glue the strips onto a tree base made from construction paper, then add a star and a trunk.

Finally, use a cotton swab dipped in white paint to stamp on “snow,” and your Christmas tree is complete.

This origami idea also supports early learning by encouraging free hand movement and fine motor skills.

Fluffy-bearded Santa

At Christmastime, Santa Claus is busy delivering presents and really shines.

This craft is perfect for the season: a Santa Claus made using tissue paper.

It’s very simple to make—first create the base of Santa’s face with construction paper, then have the children crumple tissue paper for the beard and glue it on.

Using round stickers for the eyes and nose is also recommended.

By changing the shape and amount of the beard, each child can create their own unique Santa.

Adding Christmas decorations around it will make it even cuter.

Letter to Santa

Here’s how to make a Santa Claus card that 1-year-olds can enjoy! You’ll need construction paper, paper doilies, red origami paper, glue, a craft punch, newspaper, and white paint.

First, fold the red origami paper into quarters and make two small triangles.

Fold the remaining piece in half.

Next, cut the white paper doily in half and glue it onto light orange construction paper, then add the hat.

Use a craft punch to make Santa’s eyes and glue them onto the light orange paper.

A red round sticker makes a cute nose.

Make holly and a letter out of construction paper and glue them onto the base.

Dab white paint onto newspaper or tissue and use it as a stamp to finish! For 1-year-olds, the gluing and stamping steps will likely be especially fun.

Skeleton Present

Christmas Craft / Gifts from Santa and the Reindeer ♡ Skeleton-Style Present [Materials] • Construction paper • Colored clear file folders (transparent colored sheets) • Scissors • Double-sided tape • Ribbon • Round stickers Notes: • It’s fine to paint instead of using the skeleton (transparent) style. • A skeleton (transparent) version using clear film with various colored films attached is also great.Crafts for 4-year-olds Crafts for 5-year-olds#3-year-old crafts#2-year-old's craftCrafts for 1-year-oldsCrafts for 0-year-oldsProduction#Nursery schoolWall decoration#StayHomeTime#AtHomePlayProduction ideas#Nursery School CraftWinter Craft#KindergartenKindergarten craftNursery teacher / Childcare workerKindergarten Teacherwall surface #ChristmasTreeProduction for children under age (infants and toddlers) Origami Origami Craft#ChristmasOrnament Ornament making Made in December # January productionMade in FebruaryChristmas crafts #paint

Making sparkly, cute gifts instantly lifts kids’ spirits, doesn’t it? For this craft, you’ll use a square piece of construction paper with the center cut out, a clear file (plastic sheet), and stickers.

Have the children stick round stickers onto the clear file.

Then attach the sticker-covered file to the square paper frame and tie on a ribbon.

A wide, glittery ribbon makes it look more festive and is highly recommended.

For Santa or reindeer decorations, adding eyes and a mouth with round stickers or crayons could be adorable, too.

When it comes to what Santa puts presents in at Christmas, it’s got to be a stocking, right? This time, we’ll share a craft idea using pastels.

Just looking at the soft, gentle colors of pastels can be soothing, can’t it? Here’s how to make it: grate the pastels using a mesh or grater to create powder.

This step is fun too—almost like playing make-believe.

Next, dab the pastel powder with a piece of kitchen paper and apply the color onto drawing paper.

If you layer the pastels, the colors blend together to make a cute stocking.

Finally, cut the drawing paper into the shape of a stocking, and you’re done.

Let’s make a one-of-a-kind stocking and get everyone excited for Christmas!
