This track is impressive for its guitar playing that feels so good, and for the bass perfectly fulfilling its role in a song where it’s front and center.

The interplay with the drums is tight, and the performance that highlights the sprinting feel of the chorus is excellent as well.

Formed around vocalist ACA-ne, Zutto Mayonaka de Iinoni.

This track is their 14th digital single, featuring a lively opening kicked off by percussive guitar strumming and energizing vocal harmonies.

The bass line, with its deft touches of slap and strong presence, both highlights the vocals and underscores how crucial low frequencies are in the ensemble.

It’s a modern, upbeat tune where a cute melody blends comfortably with a hooky, chromatic bass line.

READY STEADY GOL’Arc〜en〜Ciel

READY STEADY GO is one of L’Arc~en~Ciel’s signature songs, renowned for its heavy yet driving sound.

Vocalist hyde’s sexy low-register voice makes the track irresistibly cool.

The chorus has an openness that feels almost beautiful.

And the weighty sound that underpins the song’s backbone is, as expected, the work of the bass.

That sense of doing solid work in a part of the band sound that doesn’t always stand out—bass lovers will find it absolutely irresistible!

Teenager ForeverKing Gnu

King Gnu’s 2020 track “Teenager Forever.” From the innocent, mischievous sections where the bass goes wild behind the drum beat and powerful guitars, to the chorus with its adult vibe, the bass is irresistibly sexy throughout.

This distinctive groove is their signature, and the bass playing is so exemplary it practically serves as the textbook proving how great they are.

Official HIGE DANDism’s song “Pretender,” which became a massive hit after its 2019 release.

While the melody and vocals are what immediately catch your ear, be sure to listen closely to the performance as well.

Behind the simple eighth-note piano pattern, it’s the bass line—with its well-placed rests—that really creates that stylish feel.

The danceable groove, reminiscent of Black music, seems to hide its secret in those rests.

And the chorus? It’s straightforward eighth notes that anyone can grasp! An infuriatingly perfect arrangement!

The song “STAY TUNE” by the band Suchmos, who broke through in 2016.

As expected, the track has a stylish vibe that connects to acid jazz and the like.

You can tell when listening with earphones—the bass is huge! And bassists may have noticed that the song goes below the range of a standard bass, revealing it’s played on a 5-string.

It also uses an arrangement that extends the low end even further with what’s called “sub-bass.” In other words, it’s a bass-obsessed, bass-centric track!

Vocaloid producer Inabakumori, who won at VocaColle 2023 Summer and has achieved Hall of Fame status with numerous tracks, contributed the song “Electric Forecast” to the Pokémon × Hatsune Miku collaboration project “Pokémon feat.

Hatsune Miku Project VOLTAGE 18 Types/Songs.” Its characteristically slightly noisy sound, so typical of Inabakumori, ties in perfectly with the collaboration’s theme.

The chromatic bassline adds a subtle hook to the high-velocity ensemble, and the bass playing—switching seamlessly from low to high registers—creates an addictive, funky number.
