groove on !Awesome City Club

The song “groove on!”, which started airing in the TAFT commercial at the end of November 2021, is a track written specifically for the ad by Awesome City Club, known for their hit “Wasurena.” The clear, expansive vocals and harmonies of atagi and PORIN are a pleasure to hear, making it a truly groovy tune.

Dance HeavenYamashita Hiroaki

Wilson Pickett’s 1966 release “Land of 1000 Dances” has been covered by countless artists around the world.
In this Boon commercial, they use an arranged vocalese version of “Land of 1000 Dances” that repeats the name “Boon”! While keeping the original’s upbeat, groovy vibe, it’s been made even more pop and catchy—an arrangement that perfectly matches the colorful, cute Boon.
The arrangement was done by Hiroaki Yamashita, who has worked on many commercial songs.
If I can see you in my dreamskinmokusei

The famous, catchy phrase makes a strong impression, doesn’t it? This classic by Minako Yoshida has been covered and cherished by many artists, including Rats & Star and DEEN & Tomoyo Harada.
In 2005, Kinmokusei released a cover as their 11th single.
It was featured in a commercial for the classic-style kei car, the Mira Gino, and generated so many inquiries thanks to its wonderful atmosphere.
You can’t help but be enchanted by its clarity and dreamy mood, reminiscent of their idol, Eiichi Ohtaki.
It’s a perfect match for a drive at any time of day.
Thus Spoke ZarathustraRihyarto Shutorausu

In the Tanto commercial titled “Carrying Every Way of Life,” a grand and sacred-sounding piece of music is used.
Many viewers might have felt, “I think I’ve heard this before.” In fact, the music in this ad is a remixed version of the introduction to Richard Strauss’s symphonic poem Also sprach Zarathustra.
The title alone might not ring a bell, but mentioning that it was used in a Cup Noodles commercial might jog your memory.
Try comparing it with the original.
PlaysicYorushika

Sairi Ito says to her heartbroken younger brother, “At times like this, the sea,” and takes him to the ocean on a canvas.
After gazing at the sea for a while, her brother quickly seems to sort out his feelings and exclaims, “I feel refreshed!” Ito, surprised, responds, “That was fast!” The interaction between the caring, sisterly Ito and her airheaded little brother is heartwarming and brings a smile—what a comforting commercial.
The BGM features Yorushika’s ‘Playsick.’ Although detailed information about the song wasn’t available at the time the commercial was released, it’s a gently paced track that suits suis’s vocals very well.
NEW DAY DREAMERflumpool

This commercial portrays Taishi Nakagawa enjoying trekking and the sense of security provided by Daihatsu’s Taft that supports his journey.
You can clearly feel the exhilaration of breaking away from everyday life through his movements and smiles, and the scenes of the car speeding through the landscape also express its powerful performance.
Enhancing the overall refreshing atmosphere is the song “NEW DAY DREAMER” by flumpool.
Its rhythmic elements—like the drum beats and the choppy guitar—are striking, and when layered with the bright vocals, they convey a strong sense of liberation.
Radio Calisthenics SongMichael Kaneko

The commercial for Daihatsu’s kei car Taft, released in June 2020, features Michael Kaneko’s cover of “Radio Taiso no Uta” (The Radio Calisthenics Song).
It’s up-tempo and feels much more pop and cheerful than the original, doesn’t it? The Taft that debuted in 2020 is actually the second generation—the first generation was sold back in 1974 as a Jeep-style passenger vehicle! That one had quite a different vibe from the current Taft.
Meanwhile, the new Taft, with its boxy design and the large glass roof above the driver’s seat that hints at the dawn of a new kind of automobile, pairs perfectly with the lyrics of this song!
