You often see Daihatsu commercials on TV—like for the Tanto, Move Canbus, Taft, and Rocky, right?

Each ad is carefully crafted with direction and casting that match the image and target audience of each car, resulting in many memorable commercials.

Of course, that strategy extends to the music used in the ads as well, with tracks chosen to perfectly suit each model.

In recent years, songs by hugely popular artists and up-and-coming bands have been featured more frequently, too.

In this article, we’ll introduce all the Daihatsu commercial songs—from those currently on air to past ones—in one go!

This is the fourth single released by Tomoko Kawase under the name Tommy february6, issued on February 6, 2003, her birthday.

Starting with this single, she began a collaboration with the Little Twin Stars, of whom she is a fan.

The song was used in a commercial for Daihatsu’s “mira AVY#.”

Sharan Q’s biggest hit, released in 1995.

In Daihatsu’s 2010 commercial “Eco-Car Subsidy ‘Ends,’” a special slow ballad version was used.

The horn arrangement is cool, and the mysterious sound and Tsunku’s sensuality overflow—when I heard it as a kid, it was absolutely shocking.

The way he sings a lonely man’s heart so boldly and funkily still feels fresh today and really sets my heart on fire!

RUNNERbakufū suranpu

RUNNERbakufū suranpu

An upbeat tune that lifts your spirits from the very first burst of the intro guitar riff.

Originally released in 1988, this classic was self-covered by Bakufu Slump’s vocalist, Sunplaza Nakano-kun, on his 2018 solo album.

It’s also been used in a Move Custom commercial, and listening to “Runner” just makes you want to take off running! The lyrics are beloved as a go-to cheer song, and Sunplaza Nakano-kun’s remarkably impactful vocals give you strength as well.

You can’t help but be moved by the gritty dedication and the image of passing the baton on.

Daihatsu Move: “A smart choice for adults. Now debuting.”

Lullaby of a Serrated HeartIshida Yuriko

[Yuriko Ishida CM] Daihatsu. Move: “A good choice for adults. Safety Performance” version

The Checkers, Showa-era idols, had a big hit with “Gizagiza Heart no Komoriuta” (Lullaby of a Jagged Heart).

The one singing it with altered lyrics is Yuriko Ishida.

She looks and sounds adorable.

Her whisper-like voice, full of clarity, puts listeners at ease.

If you listen to this song, you’ll drive safely.

If you drive, definitely give it a listen.

[Atsuro Watabe, Dan Mitsu CM] Daihatsu. Move: "Move Developer Atsuro Watabe" Version

That familiar piece—the first movement of “Winter” from Vivaldi’s Violin Concerto in F minor, The Four Seasons—plays when Atsuro Watanabe, the developer of Move, looks back on the tough research days of his past.

It truly symbolizes his own personal winter.

And then, five years later, amid the bustling yet warm atmosphere of his new family life, “Autumn” plays.

It fits the story perfectly and is irresistibly funny.

Daihatsu TANTO FUNCROSS “Open Up a New Era of Outdoor” Version

Original song

DAIHATSU TANTO FUN CROSS TV Commercial: “Open Up, the New Era of Outdoor” – 15 seconds

In the Tanto FunCross commercial “Open, A New Era of the Outdoors,” a pop-sounding tune is used.

It’s an original song created for the ad.

If you listen closely, you’ll notice the lyrics are mainly composed of onomatopoeia, sung by multiple male and female vocalists.

The rhythm of their singing is striking as well.

There’s also a subtle melody running through it, with handclaps and sounds reminiscent of anime sound effects sampled in.

These elements also help create a fun, lively atmosphere.

Daihatsu Move Custom

“Neo Melodramatic,” one of Porno Graffitti’s signature songs released in 2005.

The track was used in commercials for the Move Custom that aired frequently in the 2000s.

Since the Move Custom ads targeted young people and often featured popular actors and hit songs by well-known artists, many of you likely remember them well.

In the commercial that used this song, a high-speed car chase with a giant monster is depicted, and the synergy between the visuals and the song’s sense of speed perfectly conveys the stylish and sporty character of the Move Custom.
