ELLEGARDEN's classic and popular songs
Each member is currently active in a different band.
Vocalist/guitarist Takeshi Hosomi once lived in the United States, is fluent in English, and has many songs with English lyrics.
ELLEGARDEN announced a hiatus in 2008 to much regret, but they resumed activities in 2018!
With new releases and a return to live touring, they have been drawing renewed attention.
This time, we’re spotlighting their hits and classic tracks.
As a fan myself, I’ve carefully selected these songs.
Tell me your favorites, too!
Enjoy!

ELLEGARDEN’s classic and popular songs (41–50)
Sliding DoorELLEGARDEN

It’s included on their first album, “DON’T TRUST ANYONE BUT US.” The introspective lyrics and the strained, anguished vocals leave a strong impression.
From the opening guitar arpeggios to the heavy full-band sound, it’s a track that lets you enjoy a dynamic contrast between quiet and loud.
Mouse MoldingELLEGARDEN

It’s included on their second mini-album, “My Own Destruction.” A track with a thrilling sense of speed and a catchy melody that feels great.
The lyrics are entirely in English, but they’re packed with jokes that will make you chuckle, so I recommend reading the Japanese translation.
ringELLEGARDEN

This is their second single.
It’s a heartrending song about thinking of a former lover.
A ballad characteristic of early ELLEGARDEN that invites careful listening.
The melody line is beautiful, and vocalist-guitarist Takeshi Hosomi’s emotive singing resonates with poignant sorrow.
BRING YOUR BOARD!!ELLEGARDEN

This is ELLEGARDEN’s second album, released in July 2003.
It became their first work to enter the top 100 on Japan’s Oricon album chart.
It features many enduring fan favorites, including Jitterbug, Venus, and No.13.
Its positive, energetic vibe grabs listeners and never lets go.
It’s an album we highly recommend even to younger listeners who may only know their 2022 release, The End of Yesterday.
Lost WorldELLEGARDEN

The song “Lost World,” included on the 3rd album Pepperoni Quattro.
It opens with an ear-catching guitar riff and moves into an arrangement with a driving, brisk beat that really boosts your energy.
While the overall tempo is fast, the melody is relatively relaxed and the vocal range isn’t very wide, so it’s easier to sing than you might imagine.
There’s an English section partway through, but most of the lyrics are in Japanese, which also makes it easier to tackle.
It’s a rock tune I highly recommend choosing for karaoke.
The End of the WorldELLEGARDEN

ELLEGARDEN, whose long-awaited return to activity has thrilled fans, made their indie debut with their first mini album, “ELLEGARDEN.” This track is the first song on the album.
It’s quintessential ELLEGARDEN rock—bright yet emotional.
Alternative PlansELLEGARDEN

This song builds a distinctly ELLEGARDEN-like form, combining a warm melody reminiscent of a Christmas tune with an intense band sound.
People can’t help but think, “If only I had done this back then,” but this is a warm number that stands beside those feelings.
After all, there’s no such thing as another life.
