We’d like to introduce some recreational sports that are perfect for events and gatherings with a wide range of ages, from children to seniors!

So this time, we’ve gathered recreational sports that everyone can enjoy equally and get excited about!
Some can be played indoors, like in a gym, so if you’re thinking, “I want to play with lots of people of different backgrounds,” be sure to use this as a reference!

Circular-Court Dodgeball

Speaking of dodgeball, it’s a popular game among children.
The basic rule is to throw balls at each other inside a square court, but as its name suggests, this “circular-court dodgeball” is played within a circular court.
It’s fun because the ball can come flying from unexpected directions.
Shuttlecock grabbing race

This “shuttle grab race” is a recreational activity, yet it’s quite physically demanding.
As a form of practice with a playful element, it might be good to incorporate it into club activities.
That’s how much it works your legs and lower body for a recreation game.
Newspaper Race

Games using newspapers are simple and fun, aren’t they? In this “Newspaper Race,” each person holds a single sheet of newspaper, presses it against their chest, and—without using their hands—runs while using the wind from their forward motion to keep the paper stuck to their chest.
If the paper falls, you have to start again from that spot, and wedging it with your arms is against the rules.
Each person can have their own sheet, or you can use the newspaper as a baton and make it a relay for a team competition, which would be exciting too.
It’s a recreational sport you can play outdoors or indoors, with small or large groups.
Weird relay

By adding rule variations to a relay where team members run in turn, you can enjoy it as a more complex event.
When it’s a person’s turn, they carry out specified actions while thinking them through, cooperate as a team to meet the conditions, and aim for victory—that’s the general flow.
Introducing thinking elements—such as a game inspired by bingo where teams align rows by their team color—creates more opportunities for people who aren’t confident in athletics to shine.
By combining various victory conditions, you can also build excitement through different strategic approaches.
Balloon-Burst Battle

Prepare two balloons per person.
Attach strings to balloons that are inflated as much as possible, and tie one balloon to each ankle.
At the start signal, step on other people’s balloons to pop them.
If both of your balloons get popped, you lose and leave the game.
The last person with at least one balloon unpopped wins.
Popping balloons can feel a little scary, but go all in! Just be careful not to pop your own balloons by mistake!
Balloon Popping Race

The balloon-popping race is fun for everyone from adults to kids, and it’s packed with tension and excitement! In particular, the moment when a balloon finally pops and the winner is decided gives you the same heart-pounding thrill as a variety show, so it’s sure to get everyone hyped.
Since both adults and children can join in, it’s appealing that differences in size or experience don’t matter—you can all enjoy it together! It can be held not only outdoors but also in gymnasiums or indoor spaces, so you’re not at the mercy of the weather and can run it with large groups anytime.
Jump Rope Relay Marathon

How about trying a “jump rope relay marathon,” where you run while jumping rope instead of just doing a regular relay on the track? As long as you can jump rope, it’s a recreation anyone can enjoy regardless of age.
Divide into teams with the same number of members, and aside from the fact that you’re jumping rope, the rules are the same as a normal relay race.
If you try to run too fast, you’ll get tangled in the rope, so go carefully—keep jumping steadily as you make your way to the next runner.
Since there’s no baton like in a typical relay, use a call-out to hand off to the next runner!
