We’d like to introduce some recreational sports that are perfect for events and gatherings with a wide range of ages, from children to seniors!

When you think of sports, baseball or soccer might come to mind first, but if there are differences in age, physique, or experience, it can be hard for everyone to enjoy them together.

So this time, we’ve gathered recreational sports that everyone can enjoy equally and get excited about!

Some can be played indoors, like in a gym, so if you’re thinking, “I want to play with lots of people of different backgrounds,” be sure to use this as a reference!

A sport that everyone can enjoy regardless of age. Yuru Sports, too (1–10).

100 cm sprint

Head-to-Head in a 100 cm Dash!! Announcers Ushiro and Shinohara’s Chill Sports, Vol. 3 [ZIP! Official Channel]
100 cm sprint

When it comes to sprinting, the 100-meter dash is a classic in fitness tests, but let’s try something much shorter: the 100-centimeter dash.

It’s a competition to see how slowly you can run 100 cm, testing balance and technique more than physical strength.

Detailed rules—such as not allowing both feet to touch the ground at the same time and requiring the raised foot to keep moving—are set by the World Yuru Sports Association, so the judges’ skill is also put to the test.

Because each match consumes little physical energy, you can learn the rules and techniques through repeated participation.

balloon volleyball

Have you heard of balloon volleyball? It’s a sport everyone can enjoy, regardless of age.

Because it uses a balloon, it’s gentler to the touch than regular volleyball.

The appeal is that anyone—from children to the elderly—can join in.

You can play not only in a gym but even in your living room.

Since the balloon moves slowly, it’s also a good way to get some exercise.

Try it when you get together with family or friends.

It’s a wonderful sport that brings smiles to everyone’s faces.

Because you can enjoy it while communicating with each other, it’s perfect for events and social gatherings, too!

Zombie Soccer

Zombie Soccer 1 (Yuru Sports Undokai 2016)
Zombie Soccer

It’s a sport where players split into human and zombie teams and compete within a time limit for survival and control of the ball.

The human team wears bells that make sound and passes the ball among themselves to avoid being “preyed on” by zombies, while the zombie team, unable to see ahead, aims to touch both humans and the ball.

Humans try to pass as quietly as possible, and zombies advance by following sounds—both sides need strong concentration.

It’s also recommended to adjust the difficulty—by tweaking field size and team sizes—so a wide range of participants can enjoy it.

Boccia

Recreational sport boccia
Boccia

Boccia is a sport that originated in Europe.

Do you know this sport, which is also an official Paralympic event? Teams are divided into red and blue, each with six balls, and compete to place their balls as close as possible to the white target ball called the jack.

You can throw your balls overhand, underhand, or roll them.

You can hit other balls to move your team’s balls closer or to push the opposing team’s balls farther away.

Because it can be played while seated, it’s a sport that seniors and people with limited lower-body mobility can enjoy together.

Ball-carrying game

Ball-carrying game

A ball-carrying game that anyone can enjoy, regardless of age or fitness level.

The rules are simple: work together as a team to carry the ball, so anyone can join in easily.

You can play indoors, like in a gym, so there’s no need to worry about the weather—that’s a big plus.

Everyone calls out to each other, trying not to drop the ball, creating an exciting, heart-pounding atmosphere.

It’s the kind of activity that naturally brings out smiles.

It’s also great for meeting new people and deepening communication.

Perfect for events and parties, this is a highly recommended recreational sport that’s sure to be a hit.

A sport everyone can enjoy, from kids to seniors—that’s Dodgebee.

Because it uses a soft frisbee, it’s safe to play.

The rules are simple, so you can start right away.

You can even play indoors, like in a gym, which makes it great no matter the location.

The disc is easy to throw, so anyone can quickly learn to throw it well.

It’s perfect for events that aim to deepen connections with family and friends.

If you want to get moving together and have a great time, this sport is for you.

Give it a try!

Mölkky

Understand it in just 4 minutes! A video explaining the rules of Mölkky [minor sport]
Mölkky

Mölkky is a sport that was born in Finland in 1996.

Locals enjoy it casually—sometimes while relaxing in a sauna or sipping beer! The basic rules are very simple.

You set up wooden pins with numbers on them, called skittles, standing upright on the ground.

Then you throw a wooden stick called a Mölkky at the pins and compete by the points you score.

Since it doesn’t require any special technique, it’s appealing because anyone—young or old, men or women—can enjoy it.

It’s sure to liven up events, so why not give it a try?
