Hotteok

A popular Korean snack! How to make gooey cheese hotteok / cheese Hotteok [kattyannneru]
Hotteok

Hotteok is a dish often seen at Korean street stalls: dough made from wheat flour or glutinous rice flour is wrapped around a filling of brown sugar and cinnamon like a bun, then cooked on a griddle with plenty of oil, almost as if deep-frying.

It tastes like a cinnamon roll and is delicious! Like Japan’s oyaki, it’s also tasty when you cook it with savory fillings inside.

It’s convenient because you can make it at home and simply reheat it on-site before serving.

The classic American hot sandwich: the grilled cheese.

The gooey melted cheddar is absolutely delicious.

It could be fun to try different kinds of bread and cheese, or to cut the sandwich into cute shapes with a cookie cutter.

Eyeball agar jelly

They’re delicious but look a bit grotesque—why not try making eyeball jelly? For the whites, the large eyeballs are made with milk kanten jelly, and the small ones use a lactic-acid drink, so they sound really tasty.

They’d be perfect for a festival booth around Halloween and would really liven things up.

A booth like this, aiming for buzz, sounds like a lot of fun too.

roasted sweet potato

roasted sweet potato

In the past, the usual routine was to collect fallen leaves and then bake sweet potatoes.

That might not happen much anymore, but even now, when winter comes, you can still hear the announcements from stone-roasted sweet potato carts.

Roasted sweet potatoes are great for school festival stalls too, since you just use a roasting machine to bake them.

It’s easy to rent a sweet potato roaster online, and it seems you can choose either gas or electric types.

Although baking takes time, machines with a warming chamber are convenient because you can keep the baked potatoes warm inside.

Snacks & Sweets (31–40)

It used to be a staple of street stalls in the Showa era, but it became a rarer sight in the Heisei era.

It’s “karumera-yaki,” which also appeared in the well-known manga and anime Jarinko Chie.

It’s nostalgic for older folks and likely to draw attention as a fresh kind of food stall for younger generations.

Rich Chocolate Cookies

What is this? It's delicious! Rich chocolate cookies in 2 minutes in the microwave♪
Rich Chocolate Cookies

Chocolate items always seem to be popular with everyone.

Here, I’ll introduce rich chocolate cookies that are easy to make—just heat them in the microwave for only 2 minutes.

Simply mix the ingredients, roll the dough into a log, slice it evenly, spread the pieces out and microwave them, then dust with powdered sugar for delicious cookies.

They might also work well as a little extra for a mock café at a school fair.

There are various powders and sauces like cheese, consommé, matcha, and chocolate, so it’s great that you can enjoy a range of flavors.

They seem perfect for sharing and swapping bites with friends—sure to liven things up.
