Box of Light

Would you like to make a light box with a beautiful appearance? All you need are a tissue box, thermal aluminum sheet, and a clear file folder.
First, cut out the tissue box.
Next, cut the thermal aluminum sheet into thin strips, roll them up, and pack them inside the box.
Finally, color the clear file, attach it to the box, and close it up to finish.
It won’t light up on its own, but when sunlight hits it, it shines like stained glass.
Try finishing it with colors and patterns that match your room’s design.
Ring of Flowers

How about making a flower ring that you can create with just four pipe cleaners? Start by using three pipe cleaners.
Hold the three together, loop them from the middle to fit your finger size, and twist the remaining ends together.
Spread out the six ends you now have, and curl each one down to the base.
Take one more green pipe cleaner and wrap it around the twisted section, then curl it similarly into slightly elongated shapes at the base to form leaves.
Open up the petals and adjust the shape to finish.
If the three pipe cleaners aren’t the same color and you vary them, you’ll get a colorful flower!
Key rack made from 100-yen shop materials

This is a key rack packed with ideas, made using photo frames.
Prepare three identical photo frames: two will form the body and one will be the lid.
Start by making the body.
First, cut a cork sheet to fit the inside dimensions of a photo frame, apply a decorative remake sheet, and attach it to the first frame.
Next, glue the second frame on top of the first.
That completes the body.
Then, use hinges to connect the third frame to the body as a lid.
Finish by attaching an arch latch.
By inserting aluminum pins into the cork sheet, you can hang your keys on them.
It’s a creative project that turns photo frames into a key rack.
Try painting it or adding your own touches to make it uniquely yours.
Original T-shirts made with stencil printing

How about making your own T-shirt over summer vacation? We’ll use a technique called stenciling to create an original T-shirt.
You place a cutout of letters or illustrations on the fabric and paint over it with ink or other pigments.
Since you’ll wear the T-shirt, you’ll likely wash it too.
When stenciling on T-shirts or fabric, be sure to use fabric ink that won’t wash out.
While this can be a summer vacation homework project, it can also become a fun summer memory.
You might even make matching T-shirts for the whole family.
There are stencil T-shirt kits available online, so why not give them a try?

stone art

Let’s make stone art using materials close at hand, like those from rivers and parks.
Start by collecting stones and twigs.
Choosing stones without sharp edges will help you create cute pieces.
Also, selecting twigs with branches is a key tip for making a lovely work.
Arrange the stones and twigs you found on a frame or cork board, which you can also buy at a 100-yen shop.
As children think, design, and create on their own, it boosts their imagination.
You can paint the pieces, and it’s also nice to add pinecones, leaves, and other items besides stones and twigs.
Krispy Kreme-style decorated doughnuts

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts drew attention not only for their taste but also for their colorful appearance.
Focusing on that cute, colorful look, this is about recreating them as mascots.
The base is made by shaping clay in a mold, then adding other colored clays and decorations to embellish it.
It looks fun not only to recreate actual products but also to decorate them in your own way and make original donuts.
Cute mysterious bottle

A mysterious bottle where two liquids won’t mix even when tilted.
It’s a fun idea that works great as interior decor or a small gift.
First, fill the bottle about halfway with baby oil.
Next, add colored water tinted with food coloring.
Put in glitter or holograms as you like, cap it, and decorate the bottle to make it cute—and you’re done! The method is very simple, so even younger elementary school children can enjoy making it.
Along with the craft, try summarizing both your own ideas and the correct explanation for why baby oil and water don’t mix.
