Making gifts for kindergarten graduatesNEW!

At graduation ceremonies, many people will likely take lots of memorable photos.
How about making a photo frame that’s as simple as cutting and gluing cardboard? Just cut cardboard to the size of the frame, layer another piece with the inside cut out so the photo shows, and glue them together—done! Painting the cardboard or adding decorative parts like beads and stickers will make it even cuter.
Rather than giving just the frame, it will be appreciated even more if you include a memorable photo in it when you present it.
Photo frame

Let’s display the memorable photos taken at the graduation ceremony in a warm, handmade photo frame.
For this idea, you’ll use three 15 cm × 19 cm pieces of cardboard, clay, and beads.
First, cut out a rectangular window from the inside of the first piece of cardboard.
Leave a 3 cm border around the outside as the frame.
Next, cut the second piece of cardboard into a U-shape, again leaving a 3 cm border.
After gluing the second piece onto the third piece of cardboard, apply clay to the surface of the first piece and press in beads to create your original frame.
Once the clay dries, place it on top of the second piece to complete it!

A card that reveals a photo and a message when you pull it
How about making a card where the heart pieces flip and flutter when you pull the base? You can stick photos or write messages on the hearts, so it’s perfect for anyone thinking of a memorable Valentine’s gift.
Place a 7 cm × 12 cm sheet of construction paper on top of a 7 cm × 17 cm sheet and tape them together, then draw five horizontal lines 1 cm apart from the bottom on the 7 cm × 12 cm sheet.
Fold the papers in half so that the sheet with the lines is on the outside, then attach the heart pieces along the lines.
Finally, wrap a strip-shaped piece around the overlapped section of the papers, and attach a ribbon to the topmost heart to finish.

The dot pen you often see on social media has a rounded tip that lets you easily draw neat dots.
The size and shape change depending on the pressure and angle, allowing for a variety of expressions—that’s the charm.
Let’s use a dot pen to make a handmade congratulatory card.
A four-leaf clover is said to be a symbol of happiness.
Draw each petal as if you’re drawing a heart.
The trick is to move the pen lightly without pressing hard.
Try changing colors, making a three-leaf clover, or adding a butterfly or ladybug.
Finish by writing a message with a brush pen.
It’s a perfect celebratory card for a gentle spring day—do try delivering it handmade.
Easy! Cherry Blossom Pop-up Card

100-yen shops have become indispensable in our daily lives.
Here’s a pop-up card you can make using materials you can easily get at these familiar stores! The cherry blossoms, a symbol of spring, are perfect for celebrating graduation from kindergarten.
Make a base with white construction paper and cut slits for the pop-up mechanism.
By changing the length of the slits, you can create different depths, so adjust as you like.
Once you attach cherry blossom message cards to the slits, the pop-up feature is complete.
Decorate with your preferred design, then attach the base to a cover to finish.
It’s very simple, yet it delivers surprise and delight when opened.
Give it a try!
Butterfly message card

Butterflies are popular with children.
Butterflies that evoke the warmth of spring are a perfect motif for telegrams sent for kindergarten graduation ceremonies.
How about making a message card inspired by these cute butterflies? Apply paint to the right half of an A4 sheet of paper and fold it in half.
Spread the paint evenly and then open it.
Once the paint is dry, cut it into the shape of a butterfly.
Attach the butterfly to colored construction paper, then add coiled chenille stems (pipe cleaners), photos, and a message card to finish.
This bright, interactive card that’s fun to open will be appreciated as a gift or congratulatory telegram.
