So in this article, I’ll introduce some summer tunes that I especially recommend for high school students! I’ve picked out love songs and youth anthems that students can likely relate to, so be sure to listen while reading the lyrics!

This CreepHyp song portrays a passionate summer romance.

Selected in May 2013 as the theme for Shiseido Anessa’s commercial, it captured the hearts of many.

It’s also included on the album “Buki Koboreru Hodo no I, Ai, Ai.” The lyrics convey deep affection, dependence, and poignancy, expressing the complex emotions of someone in love.

The song depicts feelings for a partner who continues to love you even when you can’t keep even small promises, as well as a powerful desire to stay together.

It’s a track we especially want high school students to hear—sure to be etched in your heart along with your summer memories!

Summer, the season that makes you feel even more feverish about love.

CreepHyp’s “Natsuume” is a love song that pushes those feelings forward.

Released in 2023, it was written for the commercial of the marriage-matching app Pairs.

Its sound arrangement features a floating, retro-pop-infused vibe.

The easy-on-the-ears melody line pairs with Ozaki’s laid-back vocals to create a one-of-a-kind world.

The lyrics humorously compare a gradually developing romance to plums.

If you’re looking for summer songs that let you sink into a nostalgic mood, I recommend Sakanaction’s “Nylon no Ito.” Its laid-back rhythm and bittersweet melody blend perfectly, giving you the ultimate nostalgic feel.

The music video, featuring beautiful ocean imagery, also captures the spirit of summer.

Spending a summer afternoon listening to this song sounds incredibly relaxing.

This song drew attention as the theme for the film “Pokémon: Diamond & Pearl—Zoroark: Master of Illusions.” The music duo Sukima Switch released it in July 2010 as their 13th single.

It’s an unrequited-love song with a sweet-and-sour feeling, featuring the pleasant sound of acoustic guitar.

It expresses the feeling of being unable to confess your love even as ice cream melts under the summer sun.

It’s perfect for high school students—a song that colors a page of youth.

Known by the nickname “Maka-en,” Macaroni Enpitsu is a four-piece rock band acclaimed for lyrics that paint a unique world and songs with meticulous arrangements.

This is their second major-label digital single.

Chosen as the theme song for Taisho Pharmaceutical’s Coppertone commercial, the track features an outstanding arrangement that delivers a refreshing feel while subtly evoking the distinctive humidity of summer.

Its message—suggesting that summers in our youth, full of things like club activities and romances that don’t always go as planned, will still become vivid memories—will likely resonate with high school students experiencing summer in real time.

With its driving arrangement and vocals that radiate heat, it’s a new staple among summer songs.
