A masterpiece with exhilarating high notes. An enchanting high-tone voice.

Even when we simply say “high-tone voice,” there are many ways to express it—from piercing high notes sung in chest voice, to a softer, more mature high tone that effectively uses mixed voice or falsetto.

In this topic, we’ve gathered a wide variety of songs that showcase the appeal of different high-tone voices, ranging from the latest trending tracks to timeless classics.

High-tone vocals are pleasant to listen to on their own, but once you can comfortably sing high notes yourself, you’ll discover even more ways to enjoy these songs.

We hope this can serve as practice material and a point of reference for those who want to learn how to sing in higher registers.

AwA AwAchōtokkyū

AwA AwAchōtokkyū

Super Express is a boys group that, like EXILE, separates dancers and vocalists, and they’ve gained popularity with that setup.

They’re hugely popular in Japan’s boys group scene and often appear near the top of the charts.

Among their songs, the one I especially recommend is AwA AwA.

The falsetto in the chorus and the high notes that shift from chest voice to mixed voice and then into falsetto right before the chorus are absolutely stunning.

The song has many developments and never gets boring, so be sure to check it out.

Off The MaskYuuta

Yuta, known as the Japanese member of NCT, has recently been active as a solo artist and is gaining attention in Japan.

Among his songs, the one I especially recommend is Off The Mask.

Unlike his work with NCT, this track has a strong rock flavor.

The high notes with shouts are full of power, making it incredibly compelling to listen to.

Be sure to check it out.

broad daylightKing Gnu

This is the second digital single by the Japanese mixture rock band King Gnu, released in February 2019.

Vocalist Mr.

Iguchi is known for his striking use of beautifully clean falsetto and mixed voice, and that signature is alive and well in this track.

In sharp contrast to the band’s hard-edged sound, his vocals amplify the band’s appeal.

If you plan to sing this song at karaoke, mastering falsetto and mixed voice will likely be essential.

Mr.

Iguchi’s expressive ability in falsetto seems exceptionally high.

Dried Flowerimase

When people hear “a singer-songwriter who hits a lot of high notes,” many probably think of imase.

With a background in Black music, imase excels at the bright, piercing falsetto that was trendy in the 1970s funk scene.

His new track, Dried Flower, is a piece where you can savor that falsetto throughout.

While the groove is emphasized—making it a high-energy song—the melody is crafted to feel relaxing when you listen.

RE RESCUEREOL

RE RESCUEREOL

Reol is a female singer who’s gained popularity with crisp, hard-hitting dance music.

She’s always dropping hit tunes, but the one I especially want to recommend is RE RESCUE.

The most satisfying high-note moment in this track is, without a doubt, the chorus.

There’s a section toward the end of the chorus where she repeatedly switches between chest voice and falsetto, and the smoothness of that transition is outstanding.

Reol also excels at pitch control, so be sure to check out the live version as well.

HOWLINGXG

XG – HOWLING (Official Music Video)
HOWLINGXG

XG, the group that shook Japan’s girl group scene with their high-performance style.

They have many great songs, but when it comes to tracks with especially satisfying high notes, isn’t “HOWLING” the one that stands out? As the title suggests, the chorus features a section reminiscent of a wolf’s howl.

The falsetto in this part has incredible sustain, making it exceptionally pleasing to listen to.

The other sections are stylish, so the contrast between beauty and coolness elevates the song’s appeal even further.

Vaundy’s song “Homunculus,” written as a theme song for the popular anime My Hero Academia, also made waves for featuring Takayuki Yamada in the music video.

The track is especially satisfying for its soaring high notes.

While it’s not a straightforward “high-note” type of song, the high-tone section in the latter half—sung with rising vibes—delivers both exhilaration and emotion.

Be sure to check it out.
