A masterpiece with exhilarating high notes. An enchanting high-tone voice.

Even when we simply say “high-tone voice,” there are many ways to express it—from piercing high notes sung in chest voice, to a softer, more mature high tone that effectively uses mixed voice or falsetto.

In this topic, we’ve gathered a wide variety of songs that showcase the appeal of different high-tone voices, ranging from the latest trending tracks to timeless classics.

High-tone vocals are pleasant to listen to on their own, but once you can comfortably sing high notes yourself, you’ll discover even more ways to enjoy these songs.

We hope this can serve as practice material and a point of reference for those who want to learn how to sing in higher registers.

A classic with exhilarating high notes: Enchanting high-tone vocals (51–60)

chantAdo

This is Ado’s 18th digital-only single, released in September 2023.

It’s a collaboration track for Universal Studios Japan’s Halloween event “Halloween Horror Nights,” and it serves as the theme song for the dance show “Zombie de Dance,” having been used since the 2023 edition of the event.

The song is crafted as an EDM number with a strikingly oriental and exotic mood.

Ado’s high tones aren’t the typical clear, transparent highs, but the way she belts through this intricately rising and falling melody is quite impressive.

Speaking as a vocal coach, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this approach because it places considerable strain on the throat, but those powerful high notes are worthy of praise.

Her use of falsetto in the quieter passages is lovely as well.

Please enjoy it.

A Perfect SkyBONNIE PINK

This is BONNIE PINK’s 21st single, “A Perfect Sky,” released in 2006.

It’s one of her signature songs.

Many of you might recognize it from a cosmetics commercial.

It’s a track where you can feel a sparkling summer in BONNIE PINK’s high notes.

A highly recommended song with refreshing high vocals that you’ll want to listen to when summer comes.

Official HIGE DANDism is a four-piece piano pop band that combines high-level musicianship with pop appeal, and has become so renowned that virtually everyone in the J-pop scene knows their name.

Their 8th digital single, “Subtitle,” written as the theme song for the TV drama “silent,” is a catchy number with a hook-filled melody that still carries the atmosphere of a classic ballad.

The chorus, which jumps even higher from a melody that moves between high and low ranges, conveys a sense of tension and drama.

It’s a modern pop tune that feels great to sing once you can nail it at karaoke.

MagicMrs. GREEN APPLE

A digital-only track by Mrs.

GREEN APPLE, released in June 2023.

It was tied in as the campaign song for Coca-Cola’s Coke STUDIO.

The band’s vocalist, Motoki Omori, is known for a voice rich in captivating high-order overtones, and that signature sound is fully present in this song as well.

From powerful high belts in chest voice to gentle high tones using falsetto, and even piercing high notes, you can enjoy a wide array of high-tone vocals all within a single track.

In a sense, it’s like a showcase of male high-tone vocals, making it one of the best reference songs for anyone aiming to become a high-tone vocalist.

A classic with exhilarating high notes. Enchanting high-tone vocals (61–70)

KanadeMs. OOJA

This is a cover of Sukima Switch’s hit song “Kanade” by the female singer Ms.OOJA, included on her album “MAN – Love Song Covers,” which features covers of songs originally sung by male vocalists.

While the original makes extensive use of middle voice to falsetto and offers a soft vocal delivery, this cover presents a straightforward performance sung with a very resonant chest voice.

In terms of vocal approach, it embodies a completely different world from the original.

The arrangement also leans a bit more toward rock, making it a very interesting piece overall!

Bring Back LoveTHE ALFEE

THE ALFEE – Take Back the Love!! [45th ANNIVERSARY BEST HIT ALFEE 2019 Spring Uprising]
Bring Back LoveTHE ALFEE

As you probably already know, the original is the theme song from the anime Fist of the North Star.

It was performed by Crystal King, but this is a cover version by THE ALFEE included on the series’ 35th-anniversary album, “Denshō.” It was released in January 2019.

In this cover, Takamizawa’s vocals handle the extremely high-pitched, melody-heavy lines with even more ease than Crystal King’s original.

Considering he was 64 at the time of release, it’s nothing short of astonishing!

Singer-songwriter Vaundy is known for his wide musical range.

While he’s praised for both his low and high registers, “Hanauroi” particularly showcases his upper range.

It’s a J-pop track with slightly bluesy phrases, featuring an extremely high line near the end of the chorus.

The range is quite broad, from mid1 F to hi D.

The highest chest voice note, hi A#, which requires mixed voice, appears 10 times, and the highest falsetto note, hi D, occurs frequently toward the end.

It’s a challenging piece, but for those who enjoy singing with mixed voice, it’s very satisfying—so definitely give it a try.
