A masterpiece with exhilarating high notes: Enchanting high-tone vocals (41–50)
I LOVE…Ofisharu Higedan Dism

This is the fourth single by the Japanese piano pop band Official HIGE DANDism, released in February 2020.
In addition to being selected as the theme song for the TBS Tuesday drama “Love Lasts Forever,” it was also used in an Apple commercial.
Even when listening to the song from the perspective of high-tone vocals and high notes—the theme of this article—the clear, soaring, and transparent high tones of vocalist Satoshi Fujihara, long acclaimed since the band’s debut, are very much alive here.
Rather than patching over parts where chest-voice high notes can’t be reached with falsetto, he skillfully switches, as a true vocal expression, between powerful, ringing high notes in chest voice and a soft falsetto where appropriate—nothing short of outstanding.
It’s a song that teaches you that even when you simply say “high-tone voice,” there are multiple expressive approaches depending on the intent.
A classic with exhilarating high notes: Enchanting high-tone vocals (51–60)
Become a flowerRyokushokushakai

This is the eighth CD single by the Japanese pop-rock band Ryokuoushoku Shakai, released in December 2023.
The song was written as the opening theme for the NTV anime The Apothecary Diaries, and its theme is said to be “a flower blooming in the shade.” Haruko Nagaya, who serves as the vocalist for Ryokuoushoku Shakai, is a singer known for her taut, powerful, and bright high-tone voice, and you can fully enjoy the appeal of her vocals even within this uptempo, thrilling track.
It’s a song I highly recommend to fans of rock with high-tone female vocals.
I was also personally very drawn to the complex and meticulously crafted rhythm arrangement of the backing track.
ultra soulB’z

“Ultra Soul” is a song that could be called one of B’z’s signature tracks.
Ever since its release in 2001, it’s been so well-known that even people who aren’t fans can probably sing along to the chorus.
There aren’t many songs that build up to the chorus with such excitement and euphoria.
It’s a track that makes you want to push for those high notes and sing it together with everyone.
The City Where Flowers Bloomyuzu

A track included on Yuzu’s album “YUZUTOWN,” released in March 2020.
In this song as well, Yuzu’s trademark—one could even call it that—of clear, gentle high notes and beautiful harmonies is fully present.
There are many kinds of high tones, but Yuzu’s are not the piercing, powerful type; rather, they’re refreshingly transparent.
It’s a vocal quality that’s a perfect match for this spring-themed song.
To be able to sing in this style of high register, mastering mixed voice (a technique that blends chest and head voice) is essential.
If you’re interested, definitely look into it—taking some vocal training lessons might be a good idea too!
cherry (sweet cherry; cherry fruit)Otsuka Ai

Ai Otsuka’s signature song “Sakuranbo” was hugely popular, especially among junior high and high school students at the time.
It fulfills boys’ wish for that “cute, high-pitched girl’s voice.” She’s adorable in looks, and the lyrics are charming too—there’s an abundance of “cute” packed in.
It’s a classic that can lift your spirits just by listening.
We also recommend revisiting it to relive those days; it will surely give you a boost of energy.
Time goes byEvery Little Thing

This is the eighth single by Every Little Thing, affectionately known as “ELT.” As the group’s biggest hit and a million-seller, it is often regarded as one of ELT’s signature songs.
It was used as the theme song for the Fuji TV drama “Amai Kekkon” (“Sweet Marriage”) and featured in commercials for companies such as Toyota and SoftBank.
Bluebirdikimonogakari

Ikimono-gakari’s 10th single, released in September 2008.
It also served as the opening theme for the TV Tokyo anime Naruto Shippuden, so many of you have probably heard it.
Yoshioka’s vocals aren’t an ultra-human high-tone showcase, but her bright, radiant voice—rich in high-frequency overtones—energizes listeners.
It’s also a great pick for karaoke for women with naturally high speaking voices.
There’s a lot to learn from this straightforward vocal style, too!
