[Recommended] Short, easy-to-sing Japanese karaoke songs

I think there are quite a few people who aren’t good with karaoke, but sometimes you just can’t turn it down because of social obligations.

What’s more, there may be situations where, once you go, you can’t get away without singing at least one song.

So, I’m going to introduce some short songs that are easy to sing even for those who aren’t comfortable with karaoke!

Most of the songs I’m about to introduce are a little over three minutes long, but some are around two minutes.

Long songs can be tough for people who aren’t confident about singing, but you might be able to manage a short one!

Also, feel free to use this as a reference when choosing the final song as your room time is about to run out.

Heralding springyama

Heralding springyama

Released in April 2020, this track produced by Vocaloid producer Kujira marks her first solo work, “Haru wo Tsugeru” (Announcing Spring).

Its calm yet ear-pleasing and distinctive vocal style is highly addictive—one you’ll want to play on repeat.

It’s also thought to be easy to sing as a karaoke song, running about 3 minutes and 15 seconds.

Starting with a striking chorus and repeating the chorus several times, it’s relatively easy to sing along to.

Listeners are sure to find it addictive too.

buster call04 Limited Sazabys

A hugely popular song by a four-piece rock band from Nagoya.

When it’s played live, people get lifted during the slow first half, and the moment the chorus hits, a wave of crowd surfers appears—an absolute classic.

It’s structured like a typical melodic hardcore track and runs about two minutes.

It’s short, but the key is high, so men should take care when singing it!

LILLYHump Back

LILLYHump Back

This is a song by Hump Back, a band steadily gaining popularity in the Japanese rock scene as a next-generation girls’ rock band.

The runtime is about two minutes, and it really ends in the blink of an eye.

But precisely because of that, there are no unnecessary arrangements—the performance by the instrumentalists and the vocals of guitarist Momoko Hayashi come through directly.

This song’s straightforward message is incredibly appealing.

While the lyrics might make it feel like a love song, it’s actually said to be a song about a dog that Momoko Hayashi used to have!

confessionMy Hair is Bad

One of the most popular songs by My Hair is Bad, a three-piece rock band that enjoys immense popularity in the Japanese rock scene.

Kicking off with an eye-catching drum phrase and maintaining a powerful sense of speed throughout, this track blazes by in just about two minutes.

What’s more, there’s a relatively long instrumental section in the middle, leaving even fewer opportunities to sing.

The vocal melody has intricate rhythms, so it’s tough to sing if you don’t already know the song.

But if you like their music and aren’t confident in your singing—or prefer not to sing long songs—give this one a try!

Until we meet againyuzu

Until the Day We Meet Again / Yuzu (Cover)
Until we meet againyuzu

This is a popular song by Yuzu that runs about three and a half minutes.

It has a relaxed tempo and a warm, gentle vibe.

The soft voices of the two Yuzu members suit it perfectly.

It’s short with just the right tempo, can be sung as a duo, and I think it’s an easy song to try even for people who aren’t good at karaoke.

Sinbad on the Shorepinku redii

This is one of the signature songs by Pink Lady, the idol duo.

With its bright and catchy vibe, it seems like it would really liven up a karaoke session! The song wraps up in about two and a half minutes.

If you sing it as a duo like Pink Lady, even people who aren’t confident in their singing can enjoy it without worry!

As an ex-girlfriendMy Hair is Bad

“Moto Kanojo Toshite” is a track from the 2017 album mothers.

It’s a love song about getting fed up with someone who never takes you seriously and deciding to break up.

The upbeat rhythm and looping chorus perfectly match the breezy feel of the lyrics.

Among My Hair’s songs, the lower vocal range stands out here, making it approachable for singers with deeper voices.

Its short length—just over two minutes—also makes it an easy one to try.

Give it a go when you’re in a similar situation or just want to sing it out and feel refreshed!
