[Recommended] Short, easy-to-sing Japanese karaoke songs

I think there are quite a few people who aren’t good with karaoke, but sometimes you just can’t turn it down because of social obligations.

What’s more, there may be situations where, once you go, you can’t get away without singing at least one song.

So, I’m going to introduce some short songs that are easy to sing even for those who aren’t comfortable with karaoke!

Most of the songs I’m about to introduce are a little over three minutes long, but some are around two minutes.

Long songs can be tough for people who aren’t confident about singing, but you might be able to manage a short one!

Also, feel free to use this as a reference when choosing the final song as your room time is about to run out.

A pop number with an eight-beat groove that incorporates a touch of traditional Japanese flavor, it paints a chic, high-fashion love story.

Following Sora Tomonari’s “Oni no Utage,” it was released in May 2024.

Selected as J-WAVE’s “J-WAVE SONAR TRAX” track for May, it garnered attention with airplay across various wide programs.

Singing of the yearning and inner conflict toward a dangerously alluring ‘beauty,’ this song is easy to sing even for those who aren’t confident at karaoke, and it also makes a great final number.

Fujisawa LoserASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION

Set to a powerful sound, this song portrays the everyday life and struggles of working adults, with a touch of comedy.

Released as a single in 2008, it was also included on the album “Surf Bungaku Kamakura” later that same year.

Despite the driving, forceful feel of the music, the lyrics are relatively sparse, giving the impression that you can sing it relaxedly while still valuing the words and emotions.

In just under three minutes, it delivers emotions born from ordinary daily moments in a direct, straightforward way.

A song in which the rock band Gagaga DX covers the ending theme of the anime Manga Nihon Mukashibanashi.

Many of you have probably heard it, as it was used in a car commercial.

This roughly two-minute track is full of their signature sense of speed and ends in a flash—a refreshing, exhilarating tune.

It suits a bright, energetic singing voice, so even those who aren’t confident singers will find it easy to try!

Fujii Kaze overflows with charm in his singing and expressiveness.

He also has many song titles that make you go “Huh?” and grab your attention, and this track, Hedemo Nee yo, is one of those that’s hard to grasp from the title alone but really piques your interest.

His Okayama dialect, which pops up now and then in his music, appears in this song too, but it’s so natural you might not notice it unless you read the lyrics.

At around 3 minutes and 10 seconds, this is a track with lyrics that feel great—and it’s perfect for blowing off some steam!
