[Recommended] Short, easy-to-sing Japanese karaoke songs

I think there are quite a few people who aren’t good with karaoke, but sometimes you just can’t turn it down because of social obligations.

What’s more, there may be situations where, once you go, you can’t get away without singing at least one song.

So, I’m going to introduce some short songs that are easy to sing even for those who aren’t comfortable with karaoke!

Most of the songs I’m about to introduce are a little over three minutes long, but some are around two minutes.

Long songs can be tough for people who aren’t confident about singing, but you might be able to manage a short one!

Also, feel free to use this as a reference when choosing the final song as your room time is about to run out.

Let’s go together.GReeeeN

Not only is it short and easy to sing, but “Let’s Go Together” also carries a moving message.

It was used as the theme song for the au Santaro series commercials that aired starting on New Year’s Day 2019.

Created by GReeeeN, the lyrics convey the idea of “let’s walk toward the future together.” Incidentally, this piece is said to be an arrangement of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” and “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring.”

Breaking out from TikTok, singer-songwriter Sui has become especially popular among younger generations.

This song, “Kawaii Kimi ga Itooshii!” (“My Adorable You is So Dear!”), is a super cute love song that’ll make your heart flutter.

It’s packed with such pure feelings of “I like you” that you might even feel a bit shy singing it! It could be easy to sing for high schoolers and people around that age.

The track is short at about 2 minutes and 30 seconds, and it’s over before you know it.

Since it’s a cute love song, it’s also easy for women to sing without it feeling out of place!

Lies and Scarsivudotto

Ivu-dot is a singer who’s popular among teenage listeners, known for his clear, translucent vocals.

This track, “Uso to Kizuato” (Lies and Scars), is one of his shorter songs that I especially recommend.

Since it features a lot of falsetto, it might be tough for those who can’t hit high notes, but the vocal line itself isn’t particularly complex, so if you can reach the notes it’s surprisingly singable.

And because it’s short, even the high sections shouldn’t be too taxing on your stamina.

Definitely give it a listen.

Flashback – Asian Kung Fu Generation
flashbackASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION

Despite being a rock band, ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION has remained at the top of the J-POP scene for many years, and this song of theirs also wraps up in about two minutes.

It’s a cool track with a strong rock vibe! It’s got a real sense of speed, so sing it boldly so you won’t be outdone by the song.

Make a WishELLEGARDEN

ELLEGARDEN’s “Make a Wish” is a song that shifts from a slow, stripped-down intro to an exciting, high-energy climax, and among fans it has a strong image as the perfect track to close out a live show.

The acoustic guitar at the beginning resonates with the heart, and from there the tension shoots straight to the max—something that won’t change even when it’s a karaoke pick.

English lyrics often get avoided as hard to sing, but this one is short and simple, making it easy even for those who aren’t comfortable with English lyrics.

How about using it as the final song to wrap up your karaoke session?

This song, The Sixth Sense, which is also used as the theme for the boat race commercial featuring Kei Tanaka, is a fast-paced number released by singer-songwriter Reol in 2020 as her fifth digital single.

It’s cool and gripping, running about 3 minutes and 10 seconds.

The music video is also incredibly stylish, so I highly recommend watching it.

With its danceable, catchy vibe, it’s sure to be a hit at karaoke as well.

star performerKing Gnu

Every King Gnu song is cool and a guaranteed crowd-pleaser at karaoke.

Senryo Yakusha was released in 2020 as King Gnu’s first double A-side single.

The track is a short one at around three minutes, and it’s the perfect embodiment of “speed”—a seriously cool song with a real sense of drive.

It’s on the short side for karaoke, but what stands out is the tempo: parts feel almost like tongue twisters, making you wonder if you can even get the words out.

Still, just ride the momentum and power through with the vibe!
