[Recommended] Short, easy-to-sing Japanese karaoke songs

I think there are quite a few people who aren’t good with karaoke, but sometimes you just can’t turn it down because of social obligations.

What’s more, there may be situations where, once you go, you can’t get away without singing at least one song.

So, I’m going to introduce some short songs that are easy to sing even for those who aren’t comfortable with karaoke!

Most of the songs I’m about to introduce are a little over three minutes long, but some are around two minutes.

Long songs can be tough for people who aren’t confident about singing, but you might be able to manage a short one!

Also, feel free to use this as a reference when choosing the final song as your room time is about to run out.

Into the DreamInoue Yosui

With a singing voice, musical style, and overall presence that radiate a one-of-a-kind individuality, folk singer Yosui Inoue has created many hit songs, including those he has written for other artists.

This track—one of Inoue’s signature songs—was used as the theme song for the 1973 film “After School” and is also famous for having been covered by many artists.

It’s so well-known that you can recognize it from the opening guitar phrase alone, making it a guaranteed crowd-pleaser at karaoke with any group.

Plus, at under three minutes long and with relatively few melodies to memorize, it’s a great choice even for people who aren’t confident at karaoke.

road; way; path; street; route; Tao (in philosophy)arashi

This is a song used as an insert track in the movie “Pika☆nchi: Life is Hard Dakedo Happy,” starring Arashi.

It has a relaxed tempo, and the very positive lyrics make it a wonderful song.

The song itself is about a minute and a half long, so you’ll finish singing it in no time!

A signature song by Rin-ne, a rapper gaining attention among young people.

It’s a mellow, chill track with striking lyrics that portray a sweet-and-sour love story.

Since it’s rap, the amount of lyrics might feel a bit heavy, but the runtime is only about three minutes, so it’ll likely feel quite short once you try singing it.

Also, most parts other than the chorus are rap, making it easier to tackle even if you’re not confident in your singing.

Focus on riding the track’s rhythm as you perform!

At the End of SorrowElefanto Kashimashi

Here’s the classic “At the End of Sorrow” by Elephant Kashimashi, the leading lights of poignant, literary rock.

It’s a two-and-a-half-minute burst of soul that kicks off straight away with an emotional chorus.

If you’re singing it at karaoke, watch out for the high notes in the chorus—stay relaxed and ride the song’s momentum as you go on the offensive.

In the instrumental break, a weeping guitar lifts the mood.

The lyrics are cool and the kind that hit you later, so it suits a direct, emotional delivery that doesn’t distort the meaning of the words.

Us, as alwaysB'z

B’z are known for releasing songs with very long titles, but this one is actually short in performance time.

It’s a warm, gentle track that suits an acoustic sound well.

It’s a lovely song that expresses the desire to move forward freely.

HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAYDREAMS COME TRUE

Depending on the generation, many people might think of this song when they hear “birthday song.” It’s about three minutes long, which I think is a very easy length to sing.

Whether you can pronounce the English well seems to be the key to whether you can sing it well.

Mazinger ZMizuki Ichirō

Ichiro Mizuki – Mazinger Z INFINITY [AMV / MAD]
Mazinger ZMizuki Ichirō

This is the theme song of Mazinger Z, an anime song that has enjoyed long-lasting popularity.

When it comes to Ichiro Mizuki, this is definitely the song most people associate with him! It’s about three minutes long, and since many people have probably heard it before, it’s a safe pick to sing at karaoke.
