[Recommended] Short, easy-to-sing Japanese karaoke songs

I think there are quite a few people who aren’t good with karaoke, but sometimes you just can’t turn it down because of social obligations.

What’s more, there may be situations where, once you go, you can’t get away without singing at least one song.

So, I’m going to introduce some short songs that are easy to sing even for those who aren’t comfortable with karaoke!

Most of the songs I’m about to introduce are a little over three minutes long, but some are around two minutes.

Long songs can be tough for people who aren’t confident about singing, but you might be able to manage a short one!

Also, feel free to use this as a reference when choosing the final song as your room time is about to run out.

A signature song by Rin-ne, a rapper gaining attention among young people.

It’s a mellow, chill track with striking lyrics that portray a sweet-and-sour love story.

Since it’s rap, the amount of lyrics might feel a bit heavy, but the runtime is only about three minutes, so it’ll likely feel quite short once you try singing it.

Also, most parts other than the chorus are rap, making it easier to tackle even if you’re not confident in your singing.

Focus on riding the track’s rhythm as you perform!

revolutionandymori

Although the band has already disbanded, this is a song by the three-piece rock band andymori.

It’s a simple, unadorned track, but the passionate lyrics that evoke youthful days leave a strong impression.

It’s only about two minutes long, so make sure to pour plenty of passion into your singing!

YOASOBI is a music duo that’s been creating a huge buzz in the domestic music scene.

Among their songs, this one is relatively short at about 3 minutes and 15 seconds, with roughly 15 seconds of intro, so the actual singing lasts around 3 minutes—making it an easy choice in length for karaoke.

Even within such a compact track, their signature style of composing based on novel stories truly shines, expressing the narrative through every element of the music, including the lyrics, melody, and key changes.

The classic song “A Present Without a Stamp,” written and composed by Kazuo Zaitsu, is actually covered by the nationally popular rock band WANIMA! Rock bands often have shorter songs, so this is recommended for anyone looking for easy-to-sing, short tracks for karaoke.

In particular, since this one is a cover of a well-known song, the melody feels familiar and you can sing it right away—highly recommended.

At around two minutes long, it’s short, catchy, and bright in true WANIMA fashion!

I got a girlfriend.SHISHAMO

A song included as the first track on SHISHAMO’s debut album, “SHISHAMO.” It’s about three minutes long.

A karaoke classic! Highly recommended for kicking off the night and getting everyone hyped.

The structure is simple and the progression is speedy.

I’d love to see you sing it cutely while hopping around (lol)!

Re:makeONE OK ROCK

If you’re good at English but not so confident at karaoke, how about trying ONE OK ROCK? Their cool lyrics blend Japanese and English, and if you give it your all for about three and a half minutes, people will definitely think, “Wow!” It might be so cool that they ask you to sing more—if that happens, pick another short song to go with!

This is a two-and-a-half-minute song by Gen Hoshino, who is dominating the J-POP scene.

The marimba in the intro, just like in his 2018 release “Idea,” is actually played by Hoshino himself.

It’s an uptempo, light, and very easy-to-sing track.
