I now spend my days as a part-time writer. I’ve contributed to music and manga websites with feature/review articles, and wrote the liner notes included as a bonus for 1st PLACE Inc.’s “IA SUPER BEST.” As for my music background, I started playing guitar in junior high and focused on band activities during my school years. For over 15 years since then, up to the present, I’ve continued releasing original tracks as a Vocaloid producer. My areas of expertise are Japanese rock, Vocaloid, and manga.

As a teen, I questioned the idea that “Western music equals English,” and started listening to songs from around the world. Today, I devour music from over 80 countries and run a personal blog introducing tracks. I often listen to genres like nuevo flamenco, bolero, canzone, and R&B. I think there are quite a few people who aren’t good with karaoke, but sometimes you just can’t turn it down because of social obligations.
What’s more, there may be situations where, once you go, you can’t get away without singing at least one song.
So, I’m going to introduce some short songs that are easy to sing even for those who aren’t comfortable with karaoke!
Most of the songs I’m about to introduce are a little over three minutes long, but some are around two minutes.
Long songs can be tough for people who aren’t confident about singing, but you might be able to manage a short one!
Also, feel free to use this as a reference when choosing the final song as your room time is about to run out.

Mitsuboshi Quartet BUMP OF CHICKEN Let me introduce Mitsuboshi Quartet, a song that’s sure to deepen the bonds between friends and close companions when you sing it together.
It’s a track released by the rock band BUMP OF CHICKEN.
The vocalist, Motoo Fujiwara, is said to have written the song while thinking about the other members, and it expresses love for irreplaceable friends.
By the way, it’s fairly short at about a minute and a half, and the vocal range is relatively narrow.
Even so, there are parts where you can really belt it out, making it an easy song to get everyone excited.

No doubt Ofisharu Higedan Dism A HIGEDAN number that kicks off with a cool melody that makes everyone around go “What is this?” from the very beginning of the song! It’s the theme song for the drama “The Confidence Man JP,” starring Masami Nagasawa, Masahiro Higashide, and Fumiyo Kohinata.
It’s only 3 minutes and 20 seconds long, but that cool melody leaves a strong impression!

RED OUT Yonezu Kenshi Kenshi Yonezu’s song “RED OUT” features striking lyrics that depict the absurdities of society and personal struggles.
Released digitally in August 2024, it is included on the album “LOST CORNER.” It was also selected for a Spotify brand campaign song.
The lyrical worldview, combined with the aggressive, urgent musicality, leaves a deep impression on listeners.
Since the vocal range isn’t very wide, it’s relatively easy to sing at karaoke.
Recommended for those grappling with society or life, and for anyone who wants to let their feelings out.

Hell Love Letter tuki. This is a raw, emotionally charged song that expresses anger toward a misleading man.
Released digitally by tuki.
in April 2024, the track is marked by a powerful vocal performance.
It portrays the complex feeling of “I love you, but we can’t be together” through distinctive imagery like hell and the King of Hell (Enma).
The dynamic, emotionally driven arrangement is another highlight.
It’s the kind of song you’ll want to belt out with full emotion at karaoke.

lazy cat EVE This song portrays a yearning for change while carrying self-denial and regret.
Released as the opening track of Eve’s November 2024 album “Under Blue,” it expresses remorse over past actions and anxiety about an uncertain future, yet ultimately offers glimpses of self-acceptance and hope.
Eve’s characteristically introspective lyrics pair exquisitely with a pop-infused, melancholic sound.
It’s perfect for moments when you want to reflect on yourself or make a fresh start.

Only for you, clear skies Yorushika A Yorushika track that really hypes you up with handclaps in the chorus! It’s included on the album “An Encore Is Not Necessary for Losers.” It runs about 3 minutes and 20 seconds, but the catchy vocal melody and the backing performance are so cool and dramatic that it doesn’t feel short at all.
It’s a great one to spark a lively music chat and show you know lots of songs!
