Once you’re finished, draw patterns with a pen! Here’s a cute goldfish idea featuring an adorable tail fin.

You’ll need two sheets of origami paper cut to quarter size, glue, and a pen.

It’s a unique idea where you fold the face and the body with tail fin separately, then glue them together.

The tail fin design is charming and really brings out the beauty of the goldfish.

Adding pen-drawn patterns gives it originality and boosts the overall finish, which is a big plus.

You’ll likely feel happy every time you look at the completed goldfish.

Goldfish bowl made from paper plates

[Daycare Craft] Summer craft: a goldfish bowl made with a paper plate | cute fishbowl
Goldfish bowl made from paper plates

Let’s make a refreshing goldfish bowl using everyday materials like paper plates and plastic wrap! The method is very simple, so enjoy crafting it together with children.

Cut the top part off two paper plates with scissors, and cut out the center of one plate with a utility knife.

Cover the cut-out plate with plastic wrap, and decorate the other plate with construction paper or crayons to create goldfish.

Finally, stack the plate covered with plastic wrap over the decorated plate and seal the edges together with vinyl tape—done! Since using a utility knife can be dangerous, we recommend that teachers or guardians provide support during that step.

Drawing an ‘ocean’ with colored ice

[Summer Craft] Painting with Colored Ice! [For 1-Year-Olds]
Drawing an 'ocean' with colored ice

Let’s take a peek into an underwater world using refreshing ice paints.

To make ice paint, place your favorite paints or food coloring into each section of an ice tray, add water on top, and mix.

Insert a stick to make a handle, then put it in the freezer until it freezes.

While the ice paint is freezing, draw sea creatures on white drawing paper using a white crayon.

Once the ice paint is ready, brush the colors over the paper with your drawing.

The areas you drew will repel the ice paint, and your picture will magically appear.

If the teachers at a daycare or kindergarten draw the pictures and let the children do the coloring, even very young kids can enjoy this activity with ease!

Goldfish scooping

Handmade Festival: Goldfish Scooping ♪ Easy Craft! Festival Vibes! Make it and play!
Goldfish scooping

You can even make a classic summer festival game—goldfish scooping—by hand! All you need are everyday items like a milk carton, vinyl tape, and PE tape.

First, make a “poi” scoop using a ring-shaped strip cut from a milk carton and a drain strainer net.

It’s safer for the teacher to handle the cutting and stapling.

Wrap the vinyl tape around the scoop you made.

For the goldfish, cut the milk carton into an egg shape, draw goldfish-like patterns, and attach PE tape as the tail with tape—that’s it! These goldfish actually float on water, so it feels more realistic.

Hope you catch lots of goldfish!

Goldfish Herbarium

We also recommend a cool-looking goldfish herbarium that helps ease the summer heat.

A herbarium is an item made by filling a glass container with a special oil and placing plants inside.

Many people have probably seen the type with flowers in a tall, narrow bottle.

This time, the idea is to treat the oil as if it were water, put aquatic plants in the bottle, and add goldfish stickers.

It’s fun to mull over which goldfish to use, too.

fishing

fishing

Enjoy a fishing game at your homemade summer festival.

First, prepare sea creatures like fish and octopuses to catch.

You can use free illustration materials, or have the children draw them for extra fun.

Laminating the pieces you make will make them water-resistant and safe.

If you don’t have a laminator, use laminating film from the 100-yen shop.

Attach a paper clip to each piece, then fasten string and a magnet to a pair of chopsticks—and you’re done! Catching the fish is fun, but playing the shopkeeper and serving customers adds a different kind of enjoyment.

Have everyone make lots of pieces together!

The Rainbow-Colored Fish

[Kindergarten/Nursery] July “Rainbow Fish” Painting and Craft
The Rainbow-Colored Fish

This is a colorful fish craft made with origami paper, construction paper, crayons, glue, and scissors! Cut colored construction paper into shapes for the fish’s body, tail, and face, then glue them together.

Next, cut various colors of origami paper into strips and glue the inner ends together to form loops.

After that, stick the loops onto the fish’s body to resemble scales, and you’ll have a rainbow fish.

It’s also super cute to combine origami parts to look like the fish’s fins before gluing them on!

In conclusion

We introduced lots of craft ideas featuring fish that are perfect for summer. Just looking at them made you feel cooler, didn’t it? In the hot summer, you’ll probably spend more time indoors, so let’s watch over the children as they freely enjoy creating and experience a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. In addition to fish, it’s also great fun to make lots of different sea creatures like octopuses and whales and play while expanding your imaginative world. Enjoy summer crafts to the fullest in many different ways!
