Even karaoke beginners can relax! Easy-to-sing songs for men

At karaoke with friends, there are probably many men who feel, “I’m actually not good at singing and I get nervous…” right? No one wants to go off pitch or miss the high notes and feel embarrassed.

The truth is, there are plenty of songs that anyone can sing comfortably, as well as classic tracks that get the whole room excited! This time, we’re introducing J-POP karaoke songs that even those who aren’t confident in their singing can perform with peace of mind.

We’ve selected many songs with simple melodies and rhythms that are easy to remember, so please use this as a reference!

Even karaoke beginners can relax! Easy-to-sing songs for men (111–120)

BoyhoodInoue Yosui

This was Yosui Inoue’s 29th single, released in September 1990.

It carries a hint of 1970s folk—or rather, it has the character of a traditional school song.

The melody is very simple and straightforward, making it likely very easy for anyone to sing.

On the flip side, the way Inoue himself delivers such a simple song with remarkable depth—composer though he is—can only be described as impressive vocal and expressive ability.

It’s no wonder it was re-released years later (in 2008); it’s a classic worthy of that recognition.

absolute zeronatori

Natori, the male singer-songwriter who gained nationwide popularity with “Overdose.” His stylish vibe born from his downer-style vocals has especially captured the hearts of teens and people in their 20s.

Among his tracks, the one I particularly recommend is “Absolute Zero.” Released in April 2024, this song leans a bit more into a rock sound compared to his previous work.

That said, his downer-style vocals are very much present here, too.

It’s a low-range song that’s easy to sing even for those who struggle with high notes or long sustains, so definitely give it a try.

HELLOFukuyama Masaharu

Masaharu Fukuyama – HELLO (Full ver.)
HELLOFukuyama Masaharu

This was Masaharu Fukuyama’s 10th single, released in February 1995.

It was also the theme song for Fuji TV’s Wednesday Drama “The Best Unrequited Love.” Released during the heyday of 1990s J-pop, it became a massive hit, selling over a million copies.

J-pop at the time was often composed with karaoke in mind, and this song is no exception—it’s very easy to sing and features a melody and tempo that make performing it fun.

Don’t overthink it; just enjoy “singing” and “using your voice.” I’m sure it’ll put you in a great mood!

Size of the kaijuback number

back number – The Size of the Monster
Size of the kaijuback number

This is the seventh digital-only single by back number, a Japanese three-piece rock band, released in August 2023.

It’s a refreshingly up-tempo rock track that leaves you feeling invigorated just by listening! That said, some people may find the high notes tough if they sing it in the original key, so feel free to lower the key and enjoy it.

Try singing it powerfully and rhythmically! Don’t sweat the small stuff—just enjoy “letting your voice out” and “singing”!

powder snowRemioromen

Remioromen – Powder Snow (Music Video Short ver.)
powder snowRemioromen

This is Remioromen’s 7th single, released in November 2005.

Because it’s a mid-tempo song with a very simple melody, it should be relatively easy to sing even for people who don’t usually have many opportunities to sing.

The chorus melody may be tough in the original key for those who struggle with high notes, so please pay close attention to your key settings.

Also, in the A-melody and other so-called “flat” parts, the singer’s original style has a bit of a unique twist, but it’s better to sing those sections simply and smoothly.

Be careful not to turn it into an imitation.

SAY KOU SHOWRobāto Akiyama

Robert Akiyama “SAY KOU SHOW” (official music video & making-of), directed by Hiroshi Shinagawa
SAY KOU SHOWRobāto Akiyama

Robert Akiyama, a multi-talented artist who even writes and composes his own songs, created a provocative piece in many senses with “SAY KOU SHOW.” The title is a pun on the Japanese word for “sexual intercourse,” and the song’s amusing structure has Akiyama posing somewhat awkward questions to his fellow Robert member, Yamamoto, in the same dorm.

The music video directed by Hiroshi Shinagawa also drew a lot of attention.

The melody is actually easy to remember, making it a great gag song to liven up karaoke, but be sure to enjoy it with care—and avoid singing it in front of people who aren’t into this kind of humor!

I want to take only you away just like this.DEEN

Released in March 1993 as DEEN’s debut single.

It was also used in an NTT DoCoMo “Pocket Bell” commercial and became a million-selling hit right from their debut.

The mid-1990s, when this song came out, was truly the golden age of J-pop, and major labels were very conscious about releasing singles that would be widely sung at karaoke.

Even among those, this track is a top recommendation for being easy to sing.

The tempo and vocal melody are crafted to be very catchy and easy to hum along to.

If you’re worried the chorus’s highest notes might be tough, just lower the key at karaoke!
