Cherry Blossom Societyyuzu

Yuzu “Sakura-kai” Music Video
Cherry Blossom Societyyuzu

This is Yuzu’s 30th single, released in February 2010.

It’s a mid-tempo song with a very catchy melody, so it should be easy for just about anyone to sing.

However, the key changes when it goes into the chorus, and then returns to the original key when it goes back to the second verse, so you may need to be careful not to go off pitch at those points.

It’s a pleasing, surprising development when you’re listening, but take care when singing it.

Also, the original key might be a bit high for the average male singer, so please pay attention to the key setting when you sing it at karaoke.

LemonYonezu Kenshi

Kenshi Yonezu’s eighth major-label single, released in February 2018.

It was written as the theme song for TBS’s Friday drama “Unnatural.” …Not that it even needs that introduction anymore—it’s a massive long-selling hit.

The melody and tempo are very approachable, and the way the lyrics fit the tune is unusually straightforward for a recent song, so I think it’s an easy pick to sing casually at karaoke.

That said, precisely because the song is so simple, trying to express it properly can reveal many challenging aspects.

Even if you’re usually reluctant to sing, taking on this song might help you discover the joy of singing and the joy of expressing a song.

In that sense, it’s also perfect as a “beginner’s guide to singing,” so if you feel insecure about singing, definitely give it a try!

FUNKASTICRIP SLYME

It’s a song that becomes more addictive the more you listen, with charmingly funny and tricky synth sounds and a compelling track.

It might be hard to learn at first, but once you’ve got it down, it’s no big deal.

Sing it at karaoke and it’ll definitely get the crowd going.

This is flumpool’s third major single, released in February 2010.

It’s a beautiful ballad characteristic of flumpool, and it was also the theme song for Season 2 of the drama Bloody Monday starring Haruma Miura.

Whether you’re not confident in your singing—or even if you are—the most important thing to watch out for with this song is the key you choose.

In the original key there are many high parts, and in the original recording those highs are sung in chest voice without using falsetto or mixed voice.

So many people will likely need to lower the key when singing it at karaoke.

Check in advance which key suits you, and if possible memorize the lyrics before giving it a try.

Million FilmsKobukuro

This is Kobukuro’s 10th single, released on October 14, 2004.

It’s become something of a wedding staple, so even those who aren’t fans may have heard it at such occasions.

The song has a warm, quintessentially Kobukuro feel, making the most of an acoustic sound.

The vocal melody is easy to remember and easy to sing, so it’s a great pick for anyone to enjoy casually at karaoke.

Just be sure to keep the relaxed groove and avoid pushing the vocals ahead of the beat when you sing!

Monochrome KissShido

SIDNAD vol. 6 Monochrome Kiss
Monochrome KissShido

This was the first major-label single by the Japanese rock band SID, released in October 2008.

It also served as the opening theme for the TBS anime Black Butler, so many of you may find it familiar.

The song is characterized by a slightly wistful melody with a medium-to-up-tempo feel.

The vocal melody is very straightforward and easy to sing, making it a track that everyday listeners can comfortably choose for karaoke.

The chorus includes some higher notes, but if you take care not to strain your throat and sing with a full, resonant tone, you should really enjoy performing it.

PercolationCRAZY KEN BAND

Crazy Ken Band / Percolation (Lyric Video)
PercolationCRAZY KEN BAND

As one of the leading sound creators in the East, Crazy Ken Band keeps releasing stylish tracks that appeal to aficionados.

While many of their songs adapt genres like soul and R&B into enka and kayōkyoku, making them quite challenging, Percolation is different.

It’s a groovy and very stylish piece, but the vocal range isn’t that wide, and the rhythm is easy to feel.

Recommended for men who want to project a mature, sophisticated vibe at karaoke.
