It always begins with rain.ASKA

This was ASKA’s third solo single, released on March 6, 1991.
It was also a million-selling hit, with sales exceeding 1.2 million copies.
ASKA himself is a singer with exceptional vocal ability, and singing this song with the same expressive nuance as he does is by no means easy.
However, the song itself is a beautiful slow ballad with a vocal melody that’s highly memorable and easy to stick in your head, so I think it’s also a great piece to casually hum along to.
When singing it at karaoke, it’s best to keep your delivery gentle and careful throughout.
MARIONETTEBOØWY

A signature song by BOØWY, the rock band that dominated the 1980s with an overwhelming presence.
Celebrating the importance of living by your own will, this track is arranged in a vocal range that’s comfortable for male singers.
Released in July 1987, it became their first No.
1 on the Oricon Singles Chart.
Included on the album PSYCHOPATH, it went on to sell over a million copies.
Its clever rhyming and the blend of Japanese and English had a profound influence on later J-rock.
It’s a perfect choice for getting the crowd going at karaoke or when you need the courage to live true to yourself.
I’ll be thereMAN WITH A MISSION

The rock band MAN WITH A MISSION, known for their sharp rock sound, enjoys support across a wide range of generations.
Despite having a vocal line reminiscent of Western music, many of their songs are extremely catchy and easy to sing.
Their new track “I’ll be there” also showcases that signature catchiness.
While the song as a whole is shaped by a driving, exhilarating melody, the vocal line is surprisingly simple, with relatively few drastic rises and falls in pitch.
The overall vocal range isn’t excessively wide either, so give it a try.
Autumn Full StopArisu

Alice’s 17th single, released in December 1979, by the folk/new music group that dominated the late ’70s to early ’80s.
For the record, the lead vocal on this track is by Takao Horiuchi.
Following a string of slightly more rock-oriented hits like “Fuyu no Inazuma” and “Champion,” this song scales back the rock elements, shaping up as a wistful folk tune that evokes the melancholy of autumn.
Both Horiuchi, the main vocalist here, and fellow member Shinji Tanimura are exceptionally skilled singers, so matching their performances can be a bit challenging.
That said, the melody is very easy to hum along to, so feel free to pick it casually and give it a try.
Aim to convey an overall sense of wistfulness without letting the delivery feel heavy.
Your eyes are 10,000 voltsHoriuchi Takao

This was a solo single released by Takao Horiuchi of Alice in August 1978.
At the time, it debuted at No.
3 on the Oricon singles chart and quickly rose to No.
1, becoming a major hit.
The song belongs to the so-called “New Music” genre, which evolved from 70s folk, and this genre is a treasure trove of recommended tracks for people who aren’t confident singers to choose for karaoke.
Among them, this song in particular has a very simple chorus melody and highly memorable lyrics, so it shouldn’t take long to learn!
When love endsRin Oto

Rin-ne is a rapper who enjoys immense support from young people.
Rather than being an underground artist, he’s a rapper backed by the mainstream, and he’s especially popular among women.
Among Rin-ne’s tracks, the one I particularly recommend is “Koi ga Owareba” (“When Love Ends”).
It features highly melodic rap delivered within a narrow vocal range throughout.
The rhythm is simple, and there are no parts that require belting, so it’s easy for anyone to sing.
It’s also a hit with women, so definitely consider adding it to your repertoire.
I’ll call your name.SUPER BEAVER

A heart-stirring rock number by SUPER BEAVER, distinguished by a driving, fast-paced melody themed around friendship and love.
Released in July 2021 as the theme song for the film “Tokyo Revengers,” this track sings of the preciousness of encounters and time with those we cherish.
While looking back on days gone by, it conveys the importance of living in the present.
Its warm message woven into the lyrics and its comfortable melody make it perfect for getting the crowd going at karaoke.
Even those who find it hard to express their feelings can deepen their bond with someone through this song.
