Sun of Lovekururi

A heartwarming classic from Quruli.

With its simple melody, the song’s easy-to-hum feel is part of its charm.

It’s included on the EP “Ai no Taiyo EP,” released in March 2023, and was also used as the theme song for the Netflix film “Call Me Chihiro.” Shigeru Kishida wrote the song specifically for the movie and also handled the score.

Featuring a band ensemble centered on live instruments, the track brings its warmth to the forefront, filling listeners’ hearts.

Try listening while taking a walk—you may find even more ways to enjoy it.

Sambomaster is a rock band that has captivated many fans for years.

Their melodies lean alternative, yet every work carries a punk sensibility.

Their energetic, positive lyrics strike a chord every time, don’t they? Their new song is Inazuma (Lightning).

It’s a powerful track, but it’s also one you can sing a bit roughly without issue, making it relatively forgiving.

The vocal range is fairly standard, so consider adding it to your repertoire.

Browniewanuka

Brownie / Wa Nuka [Music Video]
Browniewanuka

Sweet and gentle, yet a little mischievous… This song brilliantly captures that “petite devil” charm of romance by comparing it to a certain dessert—a metaphor masterfully crafted by Wanuka.

Vocally, it’s centered around the mid-range and easy to sing, making it perfect even for those who don’t usually sing.

Released in June 2021, the track exploded on social media.

With its light, catchy rhythm and unique worldview, it won over many listeners.

It’s a piece that truly showcases Wanuka’s talent.

If you’re aiming for a high karaoke score, the key is to convey a nonchalant, breezy vibe.

It might be the perfect pick for someone newly in love—or someone looking to seduce.

FocusAratani Shota

Shota Araya – Focus (Lyric Video)
FocusAratani Shota

Shota Araya, known as the former vocalist of yonawo, has continued to enjoy popularity even after going solo.

His new song, Focus, is a great example.

While the track has an R&B feel, the vocal line itself isn’t much different from typical J-pop.

In fact, because the vocal line is more downbeat, it’s arguably easier to sing than standard J-pop from a vocal production standpoint.

If you relax, blend in some breath, and aim for rich overtones, you’ll instantly sound more professional—so definitely give it a try.

Ephemeral SongRADWIMPS feat. Suda Masaki

RADWIMPS feat. Masaki Suda – Utakata Uta [Official Music Video]
Ephemeral SongRADWIMPS feat. Suda Masaki

This song was the theme for the film “God of Cinema,” starring Masaki Suda.

Written by Yojiro Noda of RADWIMPS, who also appears in the film as an actor, and featuring Masaki Suda as a guest vocalist, the track is notable for lyrics that resonate with both of their characters in the story.

While it can be sung solo, it’s also recommended if you’re looking for a duet suitable for two men.

There aren’t many high notes overall, and the vocal range isn’t very wide, making it relatively easy for most people to sing.

Black and whiteACIDMAN

ACIDMAN – White and Black (Theme song for the drama “Double Cheat”)
Black and whiteACIDMAN

ACIDMAN is a three-piece rock band that has gained popularity for a sound rooted in power pop and post-rock.

They’re extremely popular in the rock scene and have been steadily producing hit songs.

Among their tracks, the one I especially recommend is Shiro to Kuro (White and Black).

This song incorporates a jazz flavor and maintains a downbeat mood throughout.

It also features quite a few phrases with a hint of classic Japanese pop (kayōkyoku), making it a great recommendation for men over 40 as well.

The City Where Flowers Bloomyuzu

The City Where Flowers Bloomyuzu

This is a digital-only single by Yuzu, released in February 2020.

It was made available as an advance release for the album YUZUTOWN, which came out in March of the same year.

The song has a very Yuzu-like feel—or rather, a warm, easygoing vibe and melody—and it’s one of those tunes that just about anyone can casually hum along to.

That said, some people might find the original key a bit high for the average male voice, so that’s something to keep in mind.

Also, if you sing it in the original key, pay attention to the parts in the chorus and elsewhere that are sung in falsetto in the original; make sure the transition in your vocal production is smooth.

Even if you can comfortably hit the high notes, belting those sections in chest voice can risk undermining the song’s atmosphere.

It’s important to use falsetto and sing the high notes gently and softly for this piece.
