It’s probably very familiar to a great many people and feels approachable, isn’t it?

Its TV commercials air frequently, so we see them often, too.

In McDonald’s commercials, the cast often draws attention—popular actors, idols, and comedians—while the music varies as well, ranging from songs by popular artists to famous international classics.

In this article, we’ll introduce a range of McDonald’s commercial songs all at once, so be sure to check out any tracks that catch your interest.

McDonald’s: “Different City, Same Taste” with Family / “Different City, Same Taste – Kansai”

Country Roadninjin (from Rokudenashi)

Kazuki Iio (Zun) and Maru Nonai star in McDonald’s new TV commercial “Different Cities, Same Taste.” Two versions—Kanto (“Makku”) and Kansai (“Makudo”)—will be aired.
Country Roadninjin (from Rokudenashi)

This is a McDonald’s commercial featuring Maru Yanai, who works as a model and actress, playing a woman who has come to a new town.

As her loneliness and anxiety grow from being away from home, a McDonald’s sign catches her eye.

Seeing the same menu and the same atmosphere as back home seems to put her a little at ease.

In a flashback, she remembers visiting McDonald’s with her family, with Kazuki Iio playing the role of her father.

The song used is “Country Roads,” also known as the theme song for the Studio Ghibli film Whisper of the Heart.

It’s sung by Ninjin from Rokudenashi, known for the songs “Tada Koe Hitotsu” and “Ai ga Tomoru.”

McDonald’s Triangular Chocolate Pie: Strawberry Custard Edition

Sun and BikiniItō Sairi, Iguchi Satoru

The McDonald’s Sankaku Choco Pie commercial features Sairi Ito and Satoru Iguchi.

In the ad, they perform a parody version of RIP SLYME’s classic “Taiyō to Bikini.” You can enjoy Satoru Iguchi’s relaxed singing style, which is different from his usual vibe.

McDonald’s Café Latte Renewal: “Un-brrr-lievable Winter” Edition

Please tell me.

Heidi, Girl of the Alps OP – Oshiete / Kayoko Iju & Nelly Schwarz
Please tell me.

This is a commercial announcing the renewal of McDonald’s café latte.

It highlights that it’s an authentic café latte made only with espresso and milk, and features Suzu Hirose—playing on the milk theme—taking a sip and exclaiming, “Moo, I can’t resist it!” That moment leaves a strong impression.

The background music is a parody of the familiar song “Oshiete” from Heidi, Girl of the Alps.

McDonald’s: “Work with a smile that’s uniquely you”

I won't give you a smile.ano

Featuring Ano, who is often seen as not being comfortable with big smiles, this McDonald’s commercial conveys that even people who aren’t good at smiling can work in their own way.

While it’s not a beaming grin, the subtle smile that suggests the joy of being able to work without losing one’s individuality is striking.

It’s also unique that the McDonald’s commercial song—usually strongly associated with smiles—is titled “I Won’t Give You a Smile” under the artist name ano.

McFlurry KitKat & Super OREO “Why not have both?!” version

I wonder why.Kamikokuryō Moe (Anjurumu)

The commercial “Why not have both!?” for McFlurry Kit Kat & Super Oreo featuring Moe Kamikokuryo from ANGERME.

Dressed in a rock-inspired outfit and strumming a guitar, Moe Kamikokuryo sings Tetsu and Tomo’s hugely popular bit ‘Nandearo’ (‘Why is that?’).

Why is it that even after deciding which McFlurry to get, you see the poster in the store and end up torn all over again? And so on… She sings all the whys and how-comes surrounding the two kinds of McFlurry to the familiar ‘Nandearo’ melody.

When there are two choices, you could keep debating forever! It’s a song that captures exactly how people feel when they’re standing in front of those McFlurries.

Teritama “Spirit of the Cherry Blossoms” Edition

SAKURAikimonogakari

The Teritama commercial “Spirit of the Cherry Blossoms,” released in the spring of 2021, features Natsuko—active as a model and actress—and actor Yoshiaki Azuma.

The CM pairs perfectly with Ikimono-gakari’s “SAKURA,” chosen to accompany visuals of beautiful pink cherry blossoms.

Released in 2006, the song has long been loved by many as a classic cherry blossom tune.

Rather than evoking flamboyant blossoms, it conjures images of petals falling with a touch of poignancy.

In the difficult spring of 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic, the commercial seems to deliver the refined, understated atmosphere of cherry blossoms that Japanese people have cherished for ages.

If you want to gaze at the blossoms while feeling a gentle sense of melancholy, this song is highly recommended!

Symphony No. 9 in E minor, Op. 95, From the New World, Second Movement “Going Home”Antonín Dvořák

The McDonald’s rice burger commercial features Knights’ Hanawa, along with Mari Natsuki and Kokoro Terada.

The ad, which depicts a warm parent–child exchange, uses the piece “Symphony No.

9 in E minor, Op.

95 ‘From the New World,’ II.

‘Goin’ Home.’” This is a song in which the American composer William Arms Fisher arranged and added lyrics to the main theme of “Largo,” the second movement of Dvořák’s “New World Symphony.” The gentle melody perfectly suits the homely interaction and the slightly lonely nighttime atmosphere, leaving a memorable impression.
