A Samurai Mac commercial with the tagline “Forge the path you want to take.” Masato Sakai’s intensity and Karin Fujiyoshi’s cool composure are strikingly contrasting, making it feel like a trailer for a big-budget film.

The BGM, T.

Rex’s “20th Century Boy,” is a monumental anthem of glam rock—if you haven’t heard it yet, you definitely should.

This is McDonald’s recruitment commercial, titled “We Want to Be Your Place.” It’s a collaboration with the hugely popular singer-songwriter imase, featuring his newly written song “Happy Order?” as the BGM, and imase himself appears in the ad.

With visuals that feel just like one of imase’s music videos, it’s the kind of spot many viewers probably couldn’t help but watch all the way through.

Two People’s Love IslandIshikawa Yuko & Chage

“Futari no Airando,” which has been featured in various commercials over the years, was also used in a McDonald’s commercial.

The song was released in 1984 as a collaborative track by singer-songwriter Yuko Ishikawa and Chage of CHAGE and ASKA.

Its especially catchy chorus is likely familiar even to generations who didn’t know the song in real time back then.

The up-tempo, summery vibe perfectly matches the image of the Loco Moco Burger, which is themed around Hawaii!

McShake × Calpis “McShake × Calpis Youth Collaboration” Version

At least this / Just this (one thing)WANIMA

This is a song included on WANIMA’s third single “Gotta Go!!,” released in 2017, a band overwhelmingly supported by the younger generation.

It features their signature refreshing sound and forward-looking, message-driven lyrics.

It’s a youth anthem with a summery vibe, and the music video—shot in a baseball stadium—has a sporty finish, culminating in a dramatic scene where white balls fall from above near the end.

The song was used in the “McShake × Calpis Youth Collaboration” commercial.

Just like in the music video, the commercial is memorable for the many white balls, and the students’ smiles and the summery Calpis Shake packaging really catch the eye.

McDonald’s Premium Roast Iced Coffee: “Alright, time for some coffee” - ‘Blazing Sun’ version / ‘Somehow Made It’ version / ‘Is This Heaven?’ version

Tsuppari High School Rock’n Roll (Going-to-School Version)Yokohama Ginbae

Junichi Okada appears as a salaryman, and the story follows him through a scorching day.

In the “Blazing Sun” version, he’s outdoors under the intense sunlight, ending up drenched in sweat.

In the “Barely Made It” and “Is This Heaven or What?” versions, he sprints to his destination just in time and, again, winds up covered in sweat.

That’s when Okada thinks of grabbing an iced coffee at McDonald’s.

It’s a commercial encouraging people to drink iced coffee at McDonald’s during the hot season.

The background music features a parody of Yokohama Ginbae’s classic ‘Tsubpari High School Rock’n Roll (Toko-hen).’ Keep an eye out for Okada dancing along to the song!
