Earth Day TokyoTokyo, Sat 4/18–Sun 4/19

Earth Day has been held as a global festival in 175 countries, promoting a zero-waste approach while inviting everyone to think together about the planet’s future. Since 2001, Earth Day Tokyo has taken place in Yoyogi Park, with the aim of creating a space where people can reflect on what they can do for the Earth through live music, talk shows, and shopping, while fostering mutual respect. It’s a family-friendly festival featuring not only music but also a wide variety of food vendors and shops closely connected to everyday living.

Yui no OtoApril 18 (Sat)–19 (Sun), Ibaraki Prefecture

Yuinote isn’t held in live houses or halls; instead, the venues are historic buildings in Yūki City, which was once a castle town. The performances in these deeply atmospheric, quintessentially Japanese settings are a must-see. Along with the music, why not also experience the history and culture of Yūki City?

Humming Bird SpringApr 18 (Sat) – 19 (Sun), Shizuoka Prefecture

This is a free, family-friendly music festival held at Hirono Coast Park in Shizuoka City, with views of Suruga Bay. Look for the venue’s distinctive shipwreck-themed playground as your landmark. Centered on the reggae genre, the soothing rhythms and ocean setting make it a perfect event to enjoy a luxurious time with a drink in hand. Don’t miss the stage performances by local dance groups and the popular seaside market featuring food and general goods. With plenty of workshops and other activities, you can have fun all day long.

MUSIC HEROESSaturday, April 18, Osaka Prefecture

This is a free outdoor event organized by an artist I met in Hirakata, Osaka. Centered on singer-songwriters, you can enjoy music from a variety of genres. When lyrics that gently wrap around your heart and give you a little push come flowing in with the sound of acoustic instruments, you can’t help but feel a sense of warmth, right? MUSIC HEROES is a place where you can share a great time with fellow music lovers while experiencing that kind of musical emotion. There’s also a flea market, so feel free to drop by.

Kita Omi FREALY JAMMiN’ is a music festival held at the Shiga Prefectural Culture and Industry Exchange Center Event Hall. The live house B-FLAT in Shiga is involved in production, so the festival has a vibe very close to that of a live house.
