Chestnut ohagi (sweet rice cakes with chestnuts)

Here’s a recipe for super-cute “Chestnut Ohagi”! Put cooked rice, sugar, and salt in a bowl, mix well, and mash until it becomes slightly sticky.
Once ready, divide the mixture into five portions in the bowl.
Place some rice on plastic wrap, put a candied chestnut on top, and use the wrap to shape and wrap it.
Make five of these.
Roll each rice ball in kinako (roasted soybean flour) to coat it all over, then cover the top half with smooth red bean paste and shape it like a chestnut.
Using plastic wrap here also makes it easier.
The kinako is optional, so you can leave the rice plain if you prefer.
Finally, use sesame seeds to make the chestnut’s eyes, and you’re done! Since this recipe requires no heat or knives, it should be safe and comfortable for older adults to make as well.

You color them with shaved ice syrup, so they’re easy for anyone to make—that’s part of the charm! Make two types of gelatin mixture: one for the pupil and one for the white of the eye.
Pour a little of the pupil mixture into the molds and chill.
Next, pour the gelatin mixture colored with shaved ice syrup over the pupil and chill again.
Finally, dissolve gelatin and sugar in boiling water, add milk to make the white-of-the-eye gelatin, pour it into the molds, and chill until set—that’s it! It may take a bit of effort, but the surprising appearance will also provide good stimulation for seniors.
Exquisite Apple Cake

Let me share a simple cake recipe using apples, a delicious taste of autumn.
First, let’s make the batter.
All you do is mix eggs, pancake mix, and milk together in that order until smooth—super easy, right? Next, peel the apples and slice them thinly, about 2–3 mm.
Transfer the slices to a heatproof dish, pour the batter you just made over them, and spread it so it coats everything evenly.
Once the batter has soaked into the apples a bit and the surface looks level, you’re good to go.
Finally, microwave at 600W for 5 minutes, and it’s done! It can crumble easily if you cut it while it’s hot, so be sure to chill it thoroughly in the refrigerator before serving.
Snack activity: apple pie

These rose-shaped apple pies are perfect to make as a snack activity.
Prepare apples, puff pastry sheets, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice, and let’s get started.
Sprinkle thinly sliced apples with sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon, then microwave for 4 minutes.
When using a knife, make sure you have a stable work surface.
Cut the puff pastry sheet into four strips, lay the apple slices along each strip, then roll from the bottom and shape the petals into a rose.
Bake in the oven for 20 minutes, and they’re ready! It’s a perfect snack activity for Mother’s Day—enjoy!
Sweet Potato in 5 Minutes (Microwave)

Let’s make sweet potato cakes with a moist and chewy texture.
Peel the sweet potatoes and slice them into rounds about 1 centimeter thick.
Put the sweet potatoes in a microwave-safe container, cover with plastic wrap, and heat them in the microwave.
Add eggs, sugar, and other ingredients to the heated sweet potatoes and mix well.
Pour the mixture into a container and microwave again.
Once heated, it’s done.
It’s delicious as is, but chilling it will enhance the chewiness.

Let’s make pumpkin pudding using pumpkins, the first thing that comes to mind as a Halloween motif! The ingredients are pumpkin, eggs, milk, granulated sugar, sugar, and water and hot water.
