A Kansai-based band that passionately sings about familiar feelings everyone has felt at least once, Kyuso Nekokami released this single in 2018.

It was written as the opening theme for the anime Major 2nd, and was also used in the web movie “Tokyo Supply Girl 2019,” featuring Emi Omura, who was chosen as the fourth Pocari Girl.

The lyrics, which wholeheartedly empathize with the feeling of setback, really hit home; even though it’s not telling you to “hang in there,” you somehow feel a fiery heat that makes your inner spirit say, “I’m going to do this!” It’s a number that lets you burn with the image of going just a bit beyond yesterday.

Summer TimeYoshida Hitsuji, Suzuki Rio

In the 2016 Pocari Sweat commercial “Light Blue Car and Ukulele,” the song playing was “Summertime.” The original is a jazz standard composed by George Gershwin, who was active in both classical and popular music, but in the commercial it’s arranged to feel cute, refreshing, and summery.

The familiar, down-to-earth vocals of Yoh Yoshida and Rio Suzuki and the gentle sound of the ukulele are heartwarming.

Their harmonies are tender and incredibly soothing.

It’s a song that makes you feel like, “I’ve gotta drink some Pocari!” (lol)

This is a 2016 commercial for Pocari Sweat.

The CM song is “Aoi Yume” (Blue Dream), with lyrics, composition, and vocals all by singer-songwriter Ibuki Takai.

A graduate of Kunitachi College of Music, Ibuki Takai has also worked on commercials for Mynavi 2018, Tokyo Tatemono, Toyota L&F, and Tiger Corporation.

The commercial’s image character is Rikako Yagi.

It’s a dreamy, fantastical CM that beautifully contrasts the gently drifting, floating feel of the track with a girl floating in water.

I’ve gotta do the thing that seems impossible.Sambomasutā

Sambomaster’s “Dekikkonai wo Yaranakucha” sings that no matter how impossible something seems, if you don’t give up and keep trying, you can absolutely do it.

Released in 2010, the song was used as the theme for the drama “Cheer★Dan” and featured in various commercials.

The cheerleading team JETS from a high school in Fukui Prefecture—the model for that drama—collaborated with Sambomaster and Pocari to create a web movie.

This collaboration produced a cheering anthem that not only supports the high school students featured in it, but also gives a push to many others—sure to bring courage and energy to anyone going through tough times!

The original song created for the Pocari Sweat commercial is “Sweat Flows for You.” The commercial features powerful dancing by students, and the music enhances it with a strong sense of youth.

The bold, straightforward lyrics channel everyday frustrations head-on, which is why the students’ authentic selves come through clearly in the song.

The way the voices gradually layer not only conveys the momentum to carve out the future, but also evokes the importance of the time spent with friends.

Released for streaming in January 2024, this song also gained attention as the theme for the Pocari Sweat commercial.

Atarayo’s distinctive vocals, combined with lyrics that resonate deeply, stir listeners’ emotions.

As an anthem cheering on those pursuing their dreams, it’s a track that truly connects with many people.

It has also been selected as the support song for the commercials of the All-Japan High School and All-Japan Junior High School Cheerleading Championships, conveying a powerful sense of encouragement for young people taking on challenges.

I think it’s a perfect song for anyone who wants to try something new or is giving their all.
