SID’s best-known and popular songs

Let me introduce songs by SID, a visual kei rock band active since 2003.

Although they’re a visual kei band, they have many refreshing tracks, so even people who don’t usually listen to visual kei may find them easy to enjoy.

In particular, “Uso” became widely known after being used as an ending theme for the anime Fullmetal Alchemist, so many of you may have heard it.

When they debuted in 2003, they reportedly wore mourning attire as their stage costumes.

Fans still refer to that period as the “mourning clothes era.”

SID’s best and most popular songs (1–10)

Thin voiceShido

It’s a poignant song about a couple’s breakup.

Despite being emotionally immature, the couple was close, yet they part ways—an all-too-common story, but made bittersweet and literary through Sid’s distinctive phrasing.

Overall it has a ballad feel, and the buildup toward the latter half is outstanding.

one wayShido

Since it’s a post–major debut track, it features a very catchy, fast-paced melody.

It’s the kind of song you can groove to while twirling a towel with everyone.

Mao’s rapid-fire delivery is also a distinctive trait.

The bass and drums lay down an incredibly cool sound.

milkShido

It’s a song about the morning of a breakup with a lover, and it’s a sad one.

The lyrics depict two adults parting amicably for each other’s sake, filled with deep melancholy and heartache.

The piano melody and guitar blend to create a jazz-like atmosphere.

It’s a hidden gem among SID’s songs.

SID’s famous and popular songs (11–20)

Delusional DiaryShido

You could almost say this song defines SID—it’s become their signature track.

It’s sung from a stalker’s perspective, and there’s even a Part 2.

The melody is super catchy, so it’s a song everyone can get hyped to while doing the choreography together.

chapter 1Shido

Unusually, this song starts with a violin.

The music video features sharp white suits and looks cool.

It’s a song about hope for the future and really fires up the crowd at live shows.

It powerfully expresses SID’s unique ability to make dreams come true.

The lyrics are interesting, comparing oneself to a conductor.

alibiShido

A song from their indie days, with their full-on visual style on display.

It’s about confronting a fickle, unfaithful man, but the chic melody gives it a richly atmospheric Showa-kayo vibe.

The music video also features wonderful costumes and makeup, so I hope you’ll watch it along with the song.

CircusShido

Using a circus as a metaphor, the lyrics depict a girl who falls in love with a popular boy at school.

It’s a perfect song for students.

The lyrics are full of playful elements and are really entertaining.

It’s also rare in that it was composed by the drummer, Yuya, and it’s incredibly exciting.
