SID’s best-known and popular songs
Let me introduce songs by SID, a visual kei rock band active since 2003.
Although they’re a visual kei band, they have many refreshing tracks, so even people who don’t usually listen to visual kei may find them easy to enjoy.
In particular, “Uso” became widely known after being used as an ending theme for the anime Fullmetal Alchemist, so many of you may have heard it.
When they debuted in 2003, they reportedly wore mourning attire as their stage costumes.
Fans still refer to that period as the “mourning clothes era.”

SID’s famous and popular songs (11–20)
Delusion Diary 2Shido

This is part 2 of SID’s classic song “Delusion Diary.” The original “Delusion Diary” portrays the feelings of a stalker, and this sequel continues the story, with the stalking seemingly escalating in the lyrics.
Despite that, the melody is very upbeat and it really energizes the crowd at live shows.
necessary evilShido

It’s a dark song.
At first, Mao’s whisper-like vocals leave a strong impression.
It starts in a low register, then rises to high notes in the chorus, and drops back down again—its dynamics are very pronounced, so it feels almost like listening to two different songs.
It’s a deep, core track.
The girl who burst into tears and a sense of emptinessShido

It’s a sultry song that starts with music box-like sounds.
Aki’s performance live is outstanding.
Unusually for Mao, the lyrics include the word “ore,” giving it a cool, male perspective.
The guitar solo is also full of sensuality.
Monochrome KissShido

This song was also used as the theme for Black Butler, and I think many people got to know SID through it.
It matches the Black Butler image, with a chorus that has a sense of speed.
I find it catchy and easy to listen to.
The guitar solo is cool and highly recommended.
smileShido

It’s a bright, upbeat song that I think is perfect for students and the like.
It’s also a staple at live shows and really gets the crowd going.
It’s the kind of energizing track that blows away the small anxieties and loneliness you feel in everyday life.
mascaraShido

It was the first song at the live show I attended, so whenever I hear it, I still remember the excitement when the curtain fell and the song began.
The slightly languid melody and Mao’s way of singing are wonderful.
I always picture this song being performed under red lights.

Thorn and CatShido

It’s a song I came to like a while after becoming a SID fan, and the more I listen to it, the more it grows on me—like a “surume” song.
The guitar is cool.
With a stylish, sultry melody and lyrics reminiscent of Shiina Ringo, I think you’ll like it even more the deeper you listen.
