THUNDERBIRDS MAIN THEME

The song that played in the FORESTER “Secret Base Pool” commercial featuring Michiko Kichise is “Thunderbirds Theme Tune.” I immediately felt it had that catchy, hum-along sound that could be a movie soundtrack—and no wonder: it’s the theme from the British sci-fi puppet show “Thunderbirds,” which debuted in 1965 and was also popular in Japan.
Barry Gray’s grand yet accessible sound and its near-futuristic vibe are super cool, and it really seems like it would amp up the feeling of a drive!
Sūdara-bushiHana Hajime to Kureēji Kyattsu

The Pleo commercial featuring Kumiko Endo used “Sūdara-bushi,” a classic Showa-era hit by Hachiji Hana and the Crazy Cats.
Although the song was released in 1961, countless parody versions have appeared in commercials and elsewhere for decades, making its melody widely known across generations.
The lyrics portray a hopeless, no-good adult, but the comic melody turns it into a fun, comic-song-style number.
It’s a tune that seems capable of blowing your worries away and brightening up Japan.
Original songHayashibe Tomonori

Thirty years after the first-generation REX, released in 1972, ended its 20-year history in 1992, it made a comeback in 2022 as a redesigned compact SUV.
The commercial song selected was an original track composed specifically for the ad by composer-arranger Tomonori Hayashibe, with vocals by U.S.-born singer Ayako Kawai.
It’s a high-energy, uptempo tune packed with speed and a luxurious horn section—one of those tracks that instantly makes you want to go for a drive.
