[For 4-year-olds] Crafts to make with middle preschoolers in July–August! Summer-themed craft activities (21–30)

Summer at-home fun you can get all at the 100-yen shop!

Everything you need from the 100-yen shop! Here are some ideas for summer play at home.

Have you heard of a sensory bag? It’s a pouch-like item used as a toy to stimulate children’s senses, letting them play while engaging their perception and sensations.

This time, let’s make a DIY sensory bag and play with it! You’ll need a vacuum/compression bag, decorative pom-poms, beads, and liquid laundry starch or school glue.

You can also add glitter for extra sparkle.

The cool, chilly feel makes it perfect for summer.

Making sea creatures

Sea creatures crafts: Perfect for summer wall displays in daycare, too! (For 4- and 5-year-olds)
Making sea creatures

Let’s make some sea creatures that can also be used for summer wall displays.

First, draw sea creatures on white drawing paper.

Make them fairly large; since these lines will be the outlines, you can use crayons that resist paint.

Once the drawing is done, use water-based color pens to draw random patterns on aluminum foil.

Place the foil on top of your sketch paper and rub; the pen colors will transfer onto the drawing, creating beautiful hues.

When it’s finished, cut around the outside of the picture.

The slightly blurred colors make for a very pretty and fun artwork.

Fireworks and ghosts of stamping

Let’s have fun creating with stamping.

First, as preparation, make a stamp by cutting slits into a toilet paper roll.

Cut construction paper or origami to make houses, buildings, and even ghosts ahead of time.

Once you’ve prepared black construction paper as the base, dip your stamp in paint and stamp fireworks onto it.

Use a variety of paint colors to make it vibrant.

Yellow, pink, and green will really pop against the black paper.

When the paint dries, glue on the houses, buildings, and ghosts, and you’re done! This is also a great idea for a summer wall display.

When you think of slime, many people probably imagine a soft texture that stretches out.

This time, let’s transform slime into a crispy form and have fun with it.

What you’ll need: molds, a melamine sponge, candle wax, parchment paper, and toothpicks.

Be sure to work together with a parent or teacher when making this.

The finished crispy slime looks just like candy, but please play with it without putting it in your mouth.

For the hot summer, a great recommendation for preschoolers is the “Munch-Munch Goldfish” origami.

Fold it, open it up, and move its mouth, and it looks just like a goldfish from a scooping game swimming around.

Use cool-colored origami paper for a fresh look that instantly boosts the summer vibe.

Once finished, kids can show their goldfish to friends or use them for pretend play—the possibilities are endless.

Many children get hooked and say, “I want to make another one!” fostering imagination while using their fingertips.

Display them on the wall to instantly create a nostalgic atmosphere.

It’s an origami idea full of seasonal charm—fun to fold, delightful to display, and memorable too.

Penguin you can make with two sheets of origami paper

I will show you how to make a cute penguin that feels cool for summer.

Prepare two sheets of origami paper, round stickers, and glue, and let’s get started.

We’ll begin with the penguin’s face.

Take one sheet of origami and fold one corner by about one third.

Flip it over, then fold the left, right, and bottom edges to form the shape of the penguin’s face.

For the body, fold the left and right sides of the origami diagonally, flip it over, then fold up the tip of the bottom section to finish.

Attach the face and body together, then add the beak, eyes, and facial expression to create your cute penguin.

Sunflower folded from a single sheet

[Origami] How to easily make a sunflower from a single sheet! A method kids can do too
Sunflower folded from a single sheet

Let me introduce a brightly shining summer sunflower.

Prepare one sheet of origami paper and start making the creases.

Fold the corners toward the center along the central lines.

This is an important step to set the base of the origami.

Open it once, then use the crease lines to create the sunflower’s petals.

Flip it over, adjust the shape of the sunflower, round it out, and you’re done.

It’s also a great idea to draw a pattern in the center of the sunflower with a felt-tip pen.

Choosing your favorite colors of origami paper to make colorful sunflowers could be really cute, too.
