Chuckle-Worthy! A Masterpiece Collection of Senryu Inspired by Sushi (11–20)
Oh dear—at just two years old, their favorite food is eel.NEW!
Conveyor-belt sushi is easy to take even small children to.
This two-year-old may have discovered a new favorite there: eel.
Eel is a luxury item, and it’s not uncommon for a single piece to cost several hundred yen.
And children tend to keep eating the one thing they like rather than trying various kinds of sushi.
Put those two together and it’s rather frightening… You can understand how the parents would feel worn down.
You can’t exactly give a two-year-old large amounts of eel, either, so that’s another dilemma.
In conclusion
We introduced a variety of unique senryu with a sushi-topping theme.
There’s a special joy in capturing subtle everyday moments and delicate feelings in the five-seven-five rhythm.
From scenes at conveyor-belt sushi to affection for your favorite topping, the pieces had a rich flavor precisely because they drew on familiar subjects.
By all means, try composing a verse yourself and enjoy the playfulness of words.
