RAG MusicBand
A wonderful Japanese music band

A special feature on WANIMA’s finest and most popular songs, shining with piercing exhilaration and meticulous craftsmanship!!

Here’s an introduction to some of the classic and popular songs by WANIMA, a three-piece rock band from Kumamoto that helped reignite the melodic hardcore (melodic punk) boom in the 2010s!

They’re a new-generation melodic hardcore band carrying on the wave from Hi-STANDARD, MONGOL800, and 10-FEET.

In addition to their musical strengths—catchy tracks that skillfully weave in reggae and ska elements, tight musicianship, and impressive vocal harmonies—their boundlessly cheerful personalities are also a huge part of their appeal.

By the way, it’s well known that “1106” is a song dedicated to bassist-vocalist KENTA’s grandfather, who was a fisherman.

KENTA himself is also said to be quite skilled at fishing, often dropping a line with whatever gear he has on hand during breaks between tours.

Now, enjoy!

I think everyone struggles and feels anxious sometimes.

This song gives you a push, so please give it a listen when you’re feeling that way.

Its positive message is very much WANIMA’s style, so I recommend it to anyone dealing with worries!

Theme of JUICE UP!!WANIMA

It’s included on their second album, “Everybody!!,” released in 2018.

With its distinctive rhythm and call-and-response shouts, it’s incredibly energetic.

Because there are many shout parts, it’s a song that really gets the crowd going at live shows.

The beginning of the endWANIMA

WANIMA / The Beginning of the End ~ HOPE [Tried Playing It]
The beginning of the endWANIMA

A densely packed song that hurls a lot of feelings and messages at you in about a minute and a half.

The band’s signature, exhilarating two-beat drive and perfectly synchronized breaks alone keep lifting your spirits as you listen.

The very short lyrics leave plenty of room for the listener’s own interpretation, giving the impression that it’s a song that becomes each listener’s own.

Because it’s the song used in au’s Santaro and Friends commercials, many of you have probably heard it.

It’s one of those unforgettable tracks after just one listen.

It’s a song that can be enjoyed by everyone from kids to adults.

And as always, the positive, quintessentially WANIMA lyrics are great!

This track is insanely cool with its strong reggae-flavored bassline.

It brilliantly blends melodic hardcore and reggae, and the intricate song structure is so true to their style! I think it’s a track packed with their appeal.

As you listen, you can’t help but start moving your body to the rhythm! Ride along with the ever-evolving groove!

Everybody!!WANIMA

WANIMA / Everybody!! Tried playing it on guitar
Everybody!!WANIMA

It shares the same title as the album released in 2018 and is also one of WANIMA’s signature songs.

The lyrics are very profound and difficult, and I think interpretations vary from person to person.

In a good way, it doesn’t feel typically WANIMA.

The lyrics mention Hi-STANDARD, seniors at Pizza of Death, the same agency as WANIMA! And as the lyrics say, the sound blends various genres like reggae, punk, and hip-hop.

You might just feel a new side of WANIMA!
