According to frontwoman Maria Brink, it’s a “powerful and beautiful song for women, regardless of the title.” It carries a message of defiance and irony that no one can ever control a woman.

Control (Jane Bond)Svetlanas

Svetlanas is a slashcore band formed in Milan, Italy.

They’re known for high-level musicianship and devilish vocals.

While they aren’t widely known in Japan, they have a strong, lasting following among slashcore fans and across Europe.

Their classic track “Control (Jane Bond)” features a high-tempo rhythm and vocals with shouts across every part, making it a standout.

It’s definitely a song that won’t be for everyone, but those who like it will absolutely love it!

CarnivalThe Cardigans

This is a signature song by The Cardigans that helped fuel the Swedish pop boom.

In Japan, it was used in a Toyota commercial and as an insert song in a TV drama, so it’s one of those tracks that even people who don’t usually listen to Western music know.

FightThe Dirty Youth

A song by The Dirty Youth, a UK rock band with a modern-day story of skyrocketing to fame through internet-driven promotion during their indie days.

Its intro combines tight, punchy stops with classic heavy riffs, and the chorus—where soaring lead vocals intertwine with gritty backing vocals—cranks up the energy.

With its sexy delivery built on high notes and finely edged vocal tone, it reaffirms how well this style pairs with loud rock.

It’s a track that arguably only a female-fronted rock band could truly pull off.

A male-female two-piece band.

A song from their debut era.

The female vocals over the simple sound feel fresh, and it gives the impression that the instruments can be heard more distinctly.

I also appreciate how their style evolves over time, reflecting a strong spirit of musical exploration.

Following their debut EP She Only Said around 2021, they went on to perform at the Coachella festival in 2025.

Their talent is widely recognized, with leading music outlets naming them among “new artists to watch.” On their EP Quiet Pleasures, produced with a renowned producer, you can feel the musical depth—like the beauty of melody shimmering beneath the wall of sound.

Highly recommended for listeners seeking a heavy yet beautiful sound that carries the spirit of ’90s alternative.
