In Japan as well, bands like BABYMETAL, BAND-MAID, LOVEBITES, and Hanabie.
are making waves, even taking the stage at world-class rock festivals.

[2026] Female-vocal Western music bands. Many rock and metal bands introduced as well! (61–70)
Walk Like an EgyptianThe Bangles

A song written by songwriter Liam Sternberg, who got the idea while riding a ferry.
It was one of The Bangles’ biggest hits, but it’s reportedly not their “favorite song” because it compromised the rock-oriented sound they wanted.
I’m SorryDIAMANTE

Diamante is a singer who has gained popularity with a music style centered on hard rock and alternative rock.
Strictly speaking, she’s not a band, but since she consistently releases gritty, band-backed rock, I’d like to introduce her here as if she were a band.
Her biggest draw is her high-caliber songwriting, especially her knack for gothic-tinged melodies.
While there is a genre called gothic metal, in her case it’s not metal but alternative rock, so “gothic alternative” is probably the closest descriptor.
It’s a rare musical approach, so be sure to check it out.
FightThe Dirty Youth

A song by The Dirty Youth, a UK rock band with a modern-day story of skyrocketing to fame through internet-driven promotion during their indie days.
Its intro combines tight, punchy stops with classic heavy riffs, and the chorus—where soaring lead vocals intertwine with gritty backing vocals—cranks up the energy.
With its sexy delivery built on high notes and finely edged vocal tone, it reaffirms how well this style pairs with loud rock.
It’s a track that arguably only a female-fronted rock band could truly pull off.
War EternalArch Enemy

Arch Enemy, a leading name in Scandinavian melodic death metal with worldwide recognition and a massive following here in Japan, initially featured a male vocalist.
In 2000, Angela Gossow joined as the band’s second vocalist, and from then on they became well-known for having a female vocalist capable of delivering ferocious death growls.
In 2014, Angela unfortunately retired, but Alissa White-Gluz—who had garnered attention as the vocalist of THE AGONIST—made a dramatic entrance as her successor.
Like Angela, Alissa commands a vicious death voice, but she also possesses a beautiful soprano tone, which she now showcases when guesting with other bands.
ConnectionElastica

It is known as a song that sparked controversy due to its clear similarities with Wire’s track “Three Girl Rhumba” and its riff.
The music video is said to be a parody of The Beloved’s “Sweet Harmony.”
