Funny Commercials [2020] (1–10)
Y!mobile “Parent and Child, It’s All Good” Version

This is Y!mobile’s “Y!mobile Student Discount” commercial titled “Oyako de Ii no da” (“It’s Fine as Parent and Child”).
It’s a parody of the theme song of the manga Tensei Bakabon with rewritten lyrics.
Tetsuro Degawa appears as the parent, dressed like Bakabon’s Papa, while child actress Mana Ashida sports Bakabon’s signature spiral cheek marks.
Ryusei Yokohama also appears in a school uniform.
Futenyan, Y!mobile’s mascot, shows up too, transforming into “Nyarome” partway through, and even the “Rerere-no-Ojisan” pops up in the background, making it a fun commercial.
Nissin Donbei “Receipt” Version

This is the Nissin Donbei commercial titled “Receipt,” featuring Gen Hoshino and Riho Yoshioka.
In this series, Gen Hoshino plays the person eating Donbei, while Riho Yoshioka adorably appears as a personification of Donbei—a fox spirit, perhaps?—and the ads have become a series.
This time, though, there’s a slightly unsettling vibe… As Hoshino, as usual, eats his Donbei deliciously, Yoshioka, looking like she has something to say, thrusts a receipt at him that shows evidence he ate kitsune udon outside.
The whole exchange feels like he’s being suspected of cheating, making it a commercial that’ll make you chuckle.
BOOKOFF “Encounters / Sell As-Is” VersionKokoro Terada, Tae Kimura

This is the BOOK OFF commercial, “People Who Crave Books, Episode 1: Encounter/You Can Sell As Is,” featuring mainly used books.
It stars the prodigy child actor Kokoro Terada and actress Tae Kimura.
In it, Tae Kimura is reading elegantly when a BOOK OFF clerk, played by Kokoro Terada, tearfully pleads with her to sell her books.
However, Kimura smoothly brushes him off—as if reading his mind.
The ad captivates with the moment when Kokoro, after his impassioned plea, snaps back to calm with a startled “Huh?” at Kimura’s single remark, and with Kimura’s cool, icy demeanor that steals the viewer’s gaze.
Uber Eats “Training” Edition

A star-studded cast appears in this familiar Uber Eats commercial known for the line, “Tonight, I’ll be having…”.
In the “Training” edition, Hiroshi Abe and Takayuki Yamada are featured.
Abe is holding what looks like a very heavy barbell in one hand, while Yamada is training his fingers with a tiny, finger-sized barbell.
You might think they’re training for their roles, but it turns out Yamada is strengthening his fingers for a mobile game.
The understated, deadpan exchange between the two makes this commercial laugh-out-loud funny.
Sakai Moving Center “Special Story Episode 2.5” Version

The panda that’s the trademark of Sakai Moving Service.
In the cute and popular “Heartfelt Panda” series of commercials, that panda appears as a moving crew member.
But now the panda faces a crisis: a rival appears.
Its name is Robot Panda.
The ad shows Heartfelt Panda getting discouraged as it’s about to lose to Robot Panda, which was brought in because speed and performance are valued more than heart.
It’s a commercial that makes you want to cheer for the adorable Heartfelt Panda.
Makes you want to see what happens next, right? (lol)
Jumbo Lottery: “Big Bro Jumbo, Teach Me” Version

This is the lottery commercial “Big Bro Jumbo, Teach Us,” featuring a lineup of today’s hottest popular actors.
After the eldest daughter Riho Yoshioka, second son Ryo Narita, third son Yuma Yamoto, and second daughter Mio Imada each experience the frustration of not having money and start thinking, “If only we had money,” they turn to their eldest brother—aka Big Bro Jumbo—played by Satoshi Tsumabuki, to learn the ways of the Jumbo Lottery.
Every character has a strong personality, and just when you think it might get a bit serious, the five siblings are so incredibly cheerful that you can’t help but laugh at the commercial.
arrows Be F-04K “Search” Version

The commercial for the smartphone “arrows Be F-04K” has a cool, almost cinematic vibe.
Stylishly suited detectives, Shun Oguri and Takayuki Yamada, are flying by helicopter to the scene, when Yamada says he wants to eat soba and searches for it on his phone…
that’s the setup.
The way Yamada’s whims—whether he’s joking or serious—get easily indulged, and the contrast of these cool guys ending up all excited at the end, make it a “gap-moe” kind of ad.
