Blow into it and make it! Let me show you how to make a cherry blossom tree with a plastic bag.

You’ll need construction paper, a plastic bag, paint, a cherry tree cutout made from construction paper, and glue or double-sided tape.

First, tightly tie the bottom of the plastic bag, turn it inside out, then blow air into it and tie it closed.

Dab paint onto the plastic bag, which will be puffed up like a balloon, and stamp it onto the construction paper to create big cherry blossom petals! Once you stick on the cherry tree made from construction paper, it’s complete!

Cherry blossoms made with lace paper

Recommended for infants! Here’s an idea for making cherry blossoms with doilies.

You’ll need: paper doilies, construction paper cut into a tree shape, paint, glue, construction paper, round masking-tape stickers, and scissors.

First, color the paper doilies with paint diluted in water.

Once dry, glue on the tree-shaped construction paper.

Next, snip the round masking-tape stickers to create cherry blossom petals and stick them on.

Finally, cut along the silhouette to trim the backing, and you’re done!

Giant cherry-blossom wall

Let’s create with our whole bodies! I’d like to introduce a giant cherry blossom wall that everyone can make together.

You’ll need large sheets of drawing paper taped to fit the wall size, brown construction paper, paint, paper cups, brushes, and pink paper cut into pieces.

It’s a wonderful idea to spark children’s creativity.

Painting on drawing paper many times larger than their own bodies is sure to be exciting! It’s also fun to use thinly shredded pink paper as cherry blossom petals.

You can just picture the children’s smiling faces as they dynamically enjoy a flurry of paper confetti! Adjust the paper size to match your classroom or room dimensions.

If you prepare a Japanese-style wall decoration, you can create a calm, soothing atmosphere.

In this idea, you attach a large sheet of paper to the wall and decorate it with cherry blossoms cut out of tissue paper.

The cherry blossoms alone are quite gorgeous, but it’s also nice to add accents like gold origami fans or rapeseed blossoms.

The more colors you include, the more lively the result will be.

Also, writing a poem or message on small tanzaku strips and attaching them will really pull the whole piece together.

Try coming up with a fitting phrase.

Introducing how to make a cherry blossom wall decoration! Create it using origami and paper tape with a window motif. Perfect as a spring decoration for March and April! [Tsukuru-mon]
Cherry blossom wall featuring a window motif

The motif of cherry blossoms and windows that brightly decorate the wall is a perfect idea for a preschool graduation ceremony.

Fold pink origami paper to make crease lines.

Cut it into a half-circle so it forms a cherry blossom shape, and when you open it, you’ll have a sakura flower and petals.

Make a bird out of light green origami paper, then use string and paper tape to create rings that will serve as windows.

Perch the bird on a branch made from construction paper, and decorate to evoke cherry blossoms dancing in the wind—then you’re done.

Let’s beautifully adorn this special, sunny day with a handmade wall display!

When you need lots of cherry blossom parts, why not try making them with kirie (paper cutting)? Even with the same shape, simply changing the origami colors or patterns and mixing the petals will create a striking wall decoration.

First, fold the origami paper into a triangle twice, then unfold it once.

Fold the top corner down to meet the bottom edge to make a crease, then unfold it.

Using that crease as a guide, fold down only the front layer of the top corner.

Align the left edge of the paper with the left corner of the small triangle you just folded down, and fold; then roll-fold it once more.

On the right side, fold it over to overlap the left side, align the shape, then fold back and fold the tip downward.

Draw a petal shape on top, cut along the lines with scissors, and when you open it up, you’ll have a cherry blossom.

Here’s a stamp art project featuring cherry blossoms using decorative balls.

You can use any kind of decorative ball for the stamp.

Clip it with a clothespin so your hands don’t get dirty.

Once your stamp is ready, draw the tree trunk on construction paper with a pen.

Then, using pink, red, and yellow paint, stamp the cherry blossom petals on top.

This alone makes a lovely piece of art, but if you want to make it even cuter, try adding flower-shaped rhinestones.
