PPAP (Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen Official) Pen-Pineapple-Apple-PenPikotarō

The one and only, well-known Piko Taro.
Piko Taro is an artist (?!), originally from Aomori City in Aomori Prefecture.
His 2016 release PPAP became a worldwide hit.
It was viewed over 100 million times, and he was even invited to the banquet during President Trump’s 2017 visit to Japan.
No matter how many times you listen, it’s a funny song that makes you chuckle.
The sound is meticulously crafted, and—surprisingly (pardon me!)—it’s actually pretty cool.
Turning TurningVOLA & THE ORIENTAL MACHINE

Daiki Nakahata of VOLA & THE ORIENTAL MACHINE is a drummer from Aomori Prefecture.
He became an official member following the breakup of Syrup16g, with whom he played until 2008.
His tight beats and guitar sound are pleasing.
The 2014 release Turning Turning features pop, catchy lyrics that match the band’s elusive worldview.

beautiful futureTHE EARTH EARTH

THE EARTH EARTH, active since 2010 and based in Aomori City.
In 2011, they debuted with the mini-album “matador is dead” on an American indie label, earning high praise from overseas media.
Their signature work is the 2022 album “THE EARTH EARTH,” which can be considered the culmination of their musical style.
Critically acclaimed—including being selected in the music magazine Shoegazer Disc Guide—their approach of communicating directly with overseas audiences without going through the Tokyo metropolitan scene has opened a new path for regional bands.
If you want to immerse yourself in a beautiful singing voice floating on a sea of noise, this is irresistible.
Like a fish on a hook yearning for freedomTIMESLIP

Kingo Kondo and Yasuji Kondo of the rock band TIMESLIP are artists from Fukaura, Aomori Prefecture.
They made a striking debut in 1996 with “Like a Fish on a Hook Seeking Freedom.” If you know 90s music, you’ve probably heard it at least once.
The simple, cool sound of this three-piece rock band is delightful.
Full of memoriesSuzuki Kisaburō

Because they’re important to me.Hayashi Asami

Asami Hayashi is an enka singer from Rokkasho, Kamikita District, Aomori Prefecture, known as an “enka idol.” When she debuted, she broke through with a midriff-baring look on par with the Amura trend.
She has also appeared in swimsuit gravure, expanding her activities beyond the traditional enka framework.
Her hit song “Daiji na Hito Dakara” climbed to No.
77 on the Oricon chart and is a classic that likely even non-enka fans have heard at least once, portraying an endearingly cute woman.
RomanceHAKUEI

HAKUEI, the lead vocalist of the prominent visual-kei band PENICILLIN, is an artist who grew up in Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture.
Their signature song, Romance, is a romantic and catchy ’90s classic that almost everyone has probably heard at least once.
It still sounds incredibly cool even today.
