South Seas RouteNitta Hachirō

Hachiro Nitta is a singer from Aomori Prefecture.

The smash hit Nanyo Koro became the original song for Rabaul Kouta, which was released by Victor in 1940.

During the war, because Hachiro Nitta often sang Nanyo Koro while entertaining troops at the front, the soldiers created Rabaul Kouta based on that song, and it was later officially released by Victor.

They are the same melody.

Nanyo Koro is a stirring masterpiece of popular song that portrays the youth, melancholy, and hopes of men of the sea, while Rabaul Kouta is a classic that expresses the aching feelings of a man thinking of his sweetheart on the battlefield.

Both are pieces to be savored while reflecting on history.
