Here’s a game where you line up circles and crosses.

Split into two teams and give it a try.

There’s a 3×3 grid of empty squares.

One person from each team takes turns placing a circle or a cross card in a square.

The team that lines up three in a row—diagonally, vertically, or horizontally—wins.

Try to outwit each other so your opponent can’t make a line of three.

The real charm of this game is the battle of wits as offense and defense unfold.

It’s a simple game, but completing a line of three brings a special kind of joy.

Let’s have fun by combining items you already have at home! Here are some ideas for a ball-carrying game.

Through play, kids can learn the importance—and the challenge—of working together to reach a goal.

The rules are simple: two people hold a towel together to carry a ball and place it into a basket or bag.

It’s great for building concentration and balance.

It’s easy to do indoors, so you can enjoy it with your child or friends and feel a sense of accomplishment together.

Once you get used to it, try customizing the course!

Musical chairs

Musical chairs

Musical chairs is a classic form of recreation, isn’t it? As you all know, the rules are simple: prepare one fewer chair than the number of participants, and everyone competes for the chairs.

That alone can get pretty lively, but if you make it a tournament and prepare a prize for the winner, it’s sure to heat up even more.

Conversely, a system where the losers advance in the tournament and face a penalty game can also make things exciting.

Fun with cards! Pig’s Tail

How to Play and Rules for the Popular Kids’ Card Game “Pig’s Tail”
Fun with cards! Pig’s Tail

Pig’s Tail is a game where you arrange a stack of playing cards in a ring and play.

The name may come from the fact that the ring of cards resembles a pig’s tail.

Pig’s Tail can be enjoyed by three or more players, and since the rules aren’t complicated, it’s easy to play casually.

Players draw one card at a time from the ring and place it in the center.

If you draw a card with the same suit as the top card in the center, you take all the cards from the center.

There are also local rules, such as being allowed to return cards from your hand when a Joker appears.

Drop the Handkerchief

Drop the Handkerchief

A simple game you can play anywhere with just one handkerchief: “Handkerchief Drop”! Choose one person to be “It,” and have everyone else sit in a circle.

The person who is It walks around behind the seated players and quietly drops the handkerchief behind someone.

If the person it was dropped behind doesn’t notice, or notices and gives chase but the It player escapes and sits in the chaser’s original spot, then the roles switch and the chaser becomes It.

It’s a highly recommended game that can be played anywhere at school—classroom, playground, you name it—and is fun for students from lower to upper grades.

Ball run

The “Ball Pass Game” is a game where you use opened milk cartons or similar items to carry a ball from the start to the goal.

First, form a team of about 6 to 10 people and line up in order.

Since the ball is carried along a path made with the milk cartons everyone is holding, once you start, anyone not currently handling the ball should quickly line up toward the goal to be ready to receive it.

If there’s no one to receive the ball, it will drop; if it drops, you have to restart from that spot.

It’s a simple but fun game!

Many people are looking for indoor recreation activities that even lower-grade elementary school children can enjoy.

For that kind of activity, this game is recommended.

In this game, you place a newspaper or similar paper on the floor, and children take turns getting onto it.

Compete in teams to see how many people can fit on the newspaper.

You only need two items to prepare! Here’s an idea for a Cup-and-Ball Relay.

The movements are simple, but it’s surprisingly tricky—exactly why it gets exciting.

Give the Cup-and-Ball Relay a try! You’ll need paper cups and colored balls.

It’s helpful to increase or decrease the number of paper cups based on how the children are doing.

You use one colored ball per lane, but if you plan to add more lanes, having about five on hand will give you peace of mind.

The rule is simple: place the colored ball on top of a lined-up paper cup and move it along, cup by cup.

Definitely give it a try!
