JR Kyushu Company Song 'Romance Railway'

Accompanied by video footage said to depict JR Kyushu’s past, present, and future, the company song “Roman Tetsudō” (Romance Railway) conveys the journey of a company that has continued to walk alongside the railway.

From steam locomotives to limited express trains, conventional lines, and the Shinkansen, the images excite even those who aren’t railway enthusiasts.

Trains race on, carrying people’s feelings—toward the sea and mountains, from the city to the countryside.

It’s a corporate song full of romance that reflects the company’s stance of running along a single track toward the future, carrying hope.

Yamaha Motor Company SongYamaha Hatsudōki

"Yamaha Motor Company Song" Hiroko Taniyama with lyrics
Yamaha Motor Company SongYamaha Hatsudōki

True to expectations, this company song, which opens with the sound of a piano, was composed by Hiroko Taniyama.

The lyrics were apparently written by an employee.

I couldn’t quite imagine what a company song composed by Hiroko Taniyama would be like, but once I listened to it, it made perfect sense.

Since Taniyama was also active in Yamaha’s Popcon, perhaps that connection led to this commission.

Incidentally, I’ve heard the honorarium for composing this piece was a single 50cc motorbike, which is amusing in its own way.

This song was released to commemorate the company’s 120th anniversary, and about 2,400 Kagome Group executives and employees perform the original dance.

Although the company is now well known, it was founded in 1899 and began with a farming family in Aichi Prefecture.

At that time, tomatoes were probably a rare vegetable.

Just by watching this promotional video, you can get a feel for the company’s philosophy, environment and facilities, and the atmosphere among its employees—and enjoy it too.

Spring, Summer, Autumn, WinterJR kamotsu

JR Freight Company Song “Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter”
Spring, Summer, Autumn, WinterJR kamotsu

This is the company song of JR Freight, officially Japan Freight Railway Company.

Its relaxed tempo and choral-style melody are striking—you’ll find yourself wanting to sway your shoulders as you listen.

It was produced in 2006 to commemorate the company’s 20th anniversary.

The music is by Takayuki Hattori, and the lyrics—selected through an in-house public submission—were supervised by Noriko Miura.

True to its title, and as the lyrics describe, the freight trains carry cargo anywhere, north, south, east, and west, all year round.

It’s a piece that puts you in a gentle mood, conjuring images of trains running along the tracks.

Nippon Break Industries company songNihon Bureiku Kōgyō

This song was featured on the TV program “Tamori Club” in 2003 for the Japan Campaign Song Awards, where it won the Grand Prix.

It was written in 2002 by Manzo, who was a contract employee at the time, with the concept of improving the image of the demolition industry.

The track is crafted with the feel of a superhero theme song, and its music video is a delight, packed with elements that will inevitably make you chuckle.

It’s unfortunate that the boom subsided around 2005 and that the company is currently in a suspended operational state, but it’s a company song you still find yourself wanting to listen to from time to time.

Ah, glory to the Sokei.ALSOK

Here is ALSOK’s company song, which was entered in the 2nd NIKKEI National Company Song Contest—a contest many companies with their own anthems aspire to join.

The song was reportedly created in 1980 to commemorate the 15th anniversary of Sohgo Security Services (ALSOK).

The music was composed by the renowned Asei Kobayashi, and the lyrics were selected from internal submissions.

From the video, you can really sense the company’s crisp, disciplined culture.

You can also see that their work goes beyond just security.

It’s truly fascinating how each company song reflects the atmosphere of its organization.

Sky Co., Ltd., which is involved in developing enterprise business systems.

As company songs, they have three tracks: “DREAM 3000” sung by Hanano Akazawa and Sara Sumikawa, “SKY Has No Limit: A Map to the Future” sung by Nao Sekine, and “Never Give Up!” sung by Toko Nakamura—each with its own music video.

“Never Give Up!” even features choreography by Papaya Suzuki, with employees dancing along as well.

It seems like an intriguing company where you might get to do a variety of things beyond your core job.
