phone case

These days, many elementary school kids have smartphones.

A great activity for them is a craft project where they make their own phone case.

You can buy a clear phone case at a 100-yen shop and use it as the base for decorations.

In summer, try seashells; in winter, snowflakes—seasonal themes work well, and using favorite characters is also recommended.

It’s a simple one-day craft, so it’s suitable even for lower grades.

interior light

How to make an interior light with a glue gun [Great for summer vacation crafts]
interior light

Let’s use a hot glue gun to stylishly customize a simple string light.

Wrap paper and draw lines with the glue gun, then peel off the glue pattern and attach it to the light—done! You can enjoy different looks by trying various shapes, such as patterns made with crumpled paper or ones made from milk cartons cut into triangles.

The color of the glue sticks also changes the overall impression, so mixing different colors is highly recommended.

Watermelon tissue box

[How to Make] Watermelon Tissue Box — Modify a store-bought tissue box to create it!
Watermelon tissue box

Let’s make a watermelon-shaped tissue box that’s perfect for summer.

First, take the tissues out of the tissue box.

Turn the box on its side, cut along the side, and split it into two pieces.

Fold one piece down the middle, snip a slit, and bend it to a 90-degree angle.

On the other piece, make a slit as well and attach it to the folded piece.

Put the tissues back in and glue construction paper to the sides.

Create an opening for pulling out the tissues, and finish by applying fabric or paper so it looks like a watermelon.

The rounded, sliced-watermelon-style tissue box is super cute!

Putting sandwiches in a hand-woven basket and heading out—it’s the kind of scene you might find in Anne of Green Gables, isn’t it? Baskets still feel a bit unfamiliar to many in Japan, but why not try making one out of tissue boxes? A single box is too small, so let’s combine four tissue boxes.

Put the four together to make one large box, and use the leftover paper to add a handle—that’s the basic idea.

Then decorate it however you like with lace or fabric scraps.

It could be great for a summer vacation project, too!

A cute-looking strawberry roll cake squishy that’s perfect for a school science project.

Start by making the roll cake, then decorate it adorably with pink silicone whip! Experiment with color choices that make it look real and explore differences in texture as your theme.

It’s not only cute to look at, but also super squishy and soothing to the touch.

To make it even cuter, try adding strawberries, cookies, and pink pearls.

Displaying photos or the actual piece will surely convey the fun to anyone who sees it.

Cute even as interior decor! Here are some ideas for mini baskets.

Adding colorful, pop-style decor will brighten up your room.

They can also bring back memories of when you received them, warming your heart.

You’ll need paper cups, scissors, yarn, a hot glue gun, lace, artificial flowers, wire, and more.

A key point is that you’re free to choose the size, colors, and design.

Try making one while imagining the person you’d like to give it to.

Corinth game

[Cardboard Craft] Launch Marbles Skillfully! How to Make a Corinth Game (Pinball Machine)
Corinth game

How about making a Corinth game that you could probably put together right now with materials you have at home? It’s a game where you build a base out of cardboard and launch marbles one by one to aim for high scores.

It’s played the same way as a Smart Ball game.

The launcher section requires a bit of delicate work, but once you get past that, there’s a lot of freedom—you can place the scoring areas however you like.

You can also make the base colorful or add characters.

I recommend it as a craft project that’s fun to play with even after you’ve finished making it.
