IYKYKXG

XG – IYKYK (Official Music Video)
IYKYKXG

XG, rumored to be the most skilled Japanese girl group right now.

If you’re a woman who likes K-pop, you’ve probably heard of them.

Their hit track “IYKYK” features exceptionally demanding vocal lines and rap parts that are rare in Japan’s girl-group scene.

The difficulty is on par with K-pop, with every section incorporating Black music-style expressions such as ad-libs, falls, and other embellishments.

ROSEHANA

In 2025, it’s no exaggeration to say that HANA, a seven-member girl group, is one of the most talked-about acts.

Produced by Chanmina, their fluid blend of hip-hop and R&B delivers a world-class level of polish that has stunned audiences at home and abroad.

Their debut single “ROSE,” released in April 2025, became an unexpected smash for a rookie act—its music video amassed 15 million views on YouTube within three weeks—showcasing the remarkable potential of all seven members.

Their “no lip-syncing” policy speaks for itself; just watch their officially released live performances to see their skill.

Of course, that means you’ll need solid vocal ability to sing their songs at karaoke.

From powerful, R&B-style vocals that soar from high to low to tight, hard-hitting rap, if you and your confident singer friends can pull off a faithful recreation, you’ll undoubtedly be the stars of the night!

sad to sayJASMINE

JASMINE is a female singer-songwriter known for her powerful, realistic lyrics.

Many of you may already know her, as global R&B singer Ne-Yo has also taken notice of her work.

Among her songs, the one I especially recommend is “sad to say.” In addition to its inherently challenging vocal lines, it features R&B essentials like vocal runs, frequent use of falsetto, and very few break points—subtle elements that make it deceptively difficult to sing.

moon bathingYorushika

This is Yorushika’s 16th single, released in October 2023.

It’s a mid-tempo pop song where you can fully enjoy vocalist suis’s bright tone.

The most important point when singing this piece is how well you can recreate that bright quality in suis’s voice.

In particular, for the upper-mid to high notes in the vocal melody, try to sing as if you’re placing the sound against your upper palate inside your mouth.

Also pay attention to phrasing and dynamics.

Then, toward the end of the song—around 3:35—where the vocals drop into the lower range, make sure to use solid chest voice to clearly express the contrast with the sections that came before.

Bluermilet

Bluermilet

Singer-songwriter milet, known for her vocals inspired by Western music, has gained widespread popularity.

Among her many hit tunes, the one I especially recommend is “Bluer.” This track is one of her works with a particularly strong Western influence.

As a result, it features advanced vocal techniques—such as ad-libs and falls—that you don’t often hear in Japanese pop.

If you’re looking to level up your detailed techniques, definitely give it a try.

Fu re te Fu re ruTK from RIN TO SHITE SIGURE

The B-side to “unravel,” which could be called one of TK’s signature songs, is actually “Fu re te Fu re ru.” It features even higher notes and more head voice/falsetto than “unravel,” and it’s a song I absolutely love to sing at karaoke.

Rather than a clean falsetto, TK’s head voice pierces through like a cry or a scream, so unless you can naturally hit high notes, it’s pretty tough to pull off… That said, it’s a super cool track, so if you think of it as a way to practice your falsetto, I recommend it to rock lovers! Starting with a weak falsetto is totally fine.

Just keep practicing using your breath over and over, and gradually build up your explosiveness—that’s the idea!

I want to tell you how I feel (my love)aimyon

Aimyon – “I Want to Tell You I Love You” [OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO]
I want to tell you how I feel (my love)aimyon

It’s a simple song, but it really shines because of Aimyon’s vocal ability, and it’s one of my favorites too! What I always find charming about Aimyon is the world she creates with her lyrics and the beautifully balanced transition from low to high notes.

In particular, this song has a wide vocal range—the lowest notes are F#3 in the verse and right before the chorus, and the highest is E5 in the chorus—so the jumps are big, and you’ll want to be careful not to let your pitch drop when singing.

The rhythm and breathing spots are also quite challenging, but once you can sing it, it feels amazing! I recommend singing it with lots of energy!
