[For Women] Grab Attention by Singing Difficult Songs at Karaoke! (71–80)

RISENEMOPHILA

NEMOPHILA / RISE [Official Live Video]
RISENEMOPHILA

NEMOPHILA is a young heavy metal girls’ band formed in 2019.

While many girls’ bands put a strong emphasis on idol elements, they’ve steadily gained support with authentic heavy metal.

Among their songs, the one I especially recommend is RISE.

This track combines hard rock with rap metal, featuring a highly challenging vocal line and a rap section that uses death growls.

It’s quite a difficult piece for women to perform, so be sure to check it out.

Imo-rai Imotuki.

Singer-songwriter tuki., who is especially popular among teens and people in their twenties.

Many women have likely fallen for tuki.’s charm, with her catchy lyrics and the way she effortlessly sings highly challenging vocal lines.

Among her songs, the one I particularly recommend is her new track, “Aimo Raimo.” It’s arranged as a ballad, and it’s a demanding piece—especially the falsetto at the start of the chorus and the short, standalone ad-libs that appear throughout every section.

Answer keyŌmori Motoki

This is a solo song by Motoki Omori, the vocalist of Mrs.

GREEN APPLE, and as you might expect, it features a lot of high notes.

The range is G#3–B4, so it may be easier for women to sing.

One remarkable thing about Omori is that he switches between chest voice and falsetto far more frequently than other artists.

If you keep your eyebrows raised while singing, the transitions become smoother.

My students often say, “Omori’s eyebrows are always raised!” so please use that as a reference.

Also, since the phrases in this song are on the longer side, I recommend deciding your breath points before singing.

If you don’t have enough breath, your voice can drop out in the falsetto sections, so be sure to focus on proper diaphragmatic breathing.

It’s challenging, but it’s a cute song—once you get used to it, try singing it in a cheerful, bouncy mood!

The Kouga Ninja ScrollsOnmyoza

This is Onmyo-za’s 10th single, released in April 2005.

It was used as the opening theme for the TV anime Basilisk: The Kouga Ninja Scrolls.

Set over an uptempo, hard-rock-style backing track, it’s a song that really lets vocalist Kuroneko’s high tones shine.

To sing this track convincingly, it’s important not only to deliver the high notes in your chest voice with openness and ease, but even more crucial is how smoothly you can transition between registers in the chorus sections that switch into falsetto.

Master those seamless register shifts, perform it brilliantly, and bask in the praise from everyone around you!

Biting the second handzutto mayonaka de ii no ni.

I think this song is fun to listen to and fun to sing! ACAね from Zutomayo has a cute, easy-to-listen-to voice, but when you actually try singing it, the range is really high whether you use head voice or chest voice.

By the way, in this song the highest note is an E5 in the chorus, and it’s amazing that she hits it solidly in chest voice rather than falsetto! Keeping the pitch steady in the chorus is especially tough.

The rhythm is also unique—there are lots of spots where notes are subtly held or cut short, so when you actually sing it, you might find parts that don’t line up with the rhythm.

Instead of jumping straight into karaoke, try singing along while listening to the original track first!

JiLL-Decoy association, affectionately known as “Jirudeko” by hardcore music aficionados, is a band that has garnered steadfast support with their jazz-centered crossover works.

Among their catalog, the track I especially recommend as a particularly challenging piece is “Before Putting on a Dress.” This song is crafted with a vibe that feels like neo-soul with strong jazz elements.

Its modulations and rhythmic phrasing are highly sophisticated—unlike typical Japanese songs—so even just matching the pitch will be quite a task.

[Official] Uru “Kokoroe” Official Audio (Short ver.) — Theme song for Fuji TV’s Monday 9 p.m. drama “Kazama Kojin: Kyōjō 0”
guidelinesUru

This is Uru’s fifth digital-only single, released in May 2023.

It was selected as the theme song for Fuji TV’s Monday 9 p.m.

drama “Kazama Kojin – Kyojo 0.” Over a beautifully symphonic backing track, Uru’s emotionally rich vocals can be fully appreciated.

From the quiet singing at the beginning—where even breath noise seems to be used as part of the vocal expression—to the soaring vocals in the chorus, it’s a very challenging song to perform at karaoke.

Precisely because of that, if you can sing it brilliantly, you’ll be sure to become the center of attention.

Listen closely to Uru’s subtle breathing and give it a try.
