[Adult Sports Day] Fun Activities and Games for Grown-Ups & Classic Events

When you think of a sports day, it probably brings to mind a school event.

However, these days, some adults also hold sports days to boost teamwork at work or to deepen friendships among friends.

That said, when it actually comes time to plan one, it can be hard to think of events that suit adults, or you might struggle with what to choose because there are so many types of competitions.

In this article, we’ll introduce recommended events for an adults’ sports day!

We’ve gathered not only classic events and physically demanding ones, but also activities that let you use your head and have fun.

Use this as a reference when deciding on your lineup.

Let’s strengthen our bonds through a sports day!

[Sports Day for Adults] Events and Games Adults Can Enjoy & Classic Competitions (41–50)

backward relay

backward relay

One of the most popular events at sports days is the relay, right? How about trying a backward relay, where you run facing backward? It’s a simple idea—just run backward—but you’ll probably find it surprisingly challenging.

Since we don’t usually move backward in everyday life, it creates a strange sensation.

Give it a try and feel it for yourself.

Another tricky part is that you can’t see the person you’re handing the baton to.

It demands more calling out to each other and stronger teamwork than usual.

Will it fit in the basket on my back?

For those who want to try a slightly more complex event, “Can it land in the basket on your back?” is also recommended.

In this game, you dribble a ball like in basketball, and at the halfway point you give it a big bounce so it lands in the basket you’re carrying on your back.

Getting the ball into this basket is both the most entertaining part and the most challenging.

You’ll probably end up hitting your head with the ball many times, so use something soft.

A laundry basket works well for the basket.

Dance Gesture Game

SixTONES – We tried the Dance Game 'Dance Gesture Game'!
Dance Gesture Game

A quiz game where you express a hidden prompt through dance so your teammates can guess it.

The performer must incorporate movements that convey the prompt while still presenting it as a dance, which demands a high level of skill.

To win, you need to clear more prompts than the opposing team, but the more seriously you commit, the more entertaining it becomes for the audience, making for a lively atmosphere.

It’s a great game for a sports day as well, where adult-style approaches can make the difference between victory and defeat.

Power Force

Sports Event: Power Force Edition
Power Force

As its name suggests, Power Force is a powerful game where players pit their strength against each other.

First, four participants are connected with elastic cords.

Then they run toward paper balloons placed in different directions, and whoever pops theirs first wins.

Only four people can play at a time, but by rotating players, large groups can enjoy it too! In that case, we recommend team matches or a tournament format.

It also sounds fun to plan strategies—like deciding when to go all out—before jumping in.

Foot darts

[Soccer] We tried the new sport, foot darts, and a miracle happened lol #FootDarts #Soccer #TokyoOlympics
Foot darts

You’re familiar with darts and soccer, right? Foot darts is a combination of those two sports.

First, you set up a giant dartboard about four meters tall.

Then each player kicks a ball at it three times to compete for points.

The balls are designed to stick to the board when they hit it—so it’s basically like a massive game of darts.

The rules are the same as in regular darts: the closer to the center, the higher the score.

There are companies that rent out foot-darts boards, so be sure to check them out.
